I've only made macarons twice ever before this. I'm seriously a glutton for punishment, but I was able to save a full dozen. I'm just pretending these snowmen just returned from vacation in Hawaii. haha
This is the carnage though : Just keepin' it real. haha
Those are adorable! I've never attempted macarons - what goes wrong? Do they stick to the baking surface and then crumble when you try to lift them off?

For this specific case, I should have baked each pan separately.
I made macarons once and by some miracle all but 2 came out perfectly with the “foot” and everything. So I had like 2+ dozen for the two of us (I assumed most wouldn’t work). Now I am scared to try again because who has that kind of luck?

Yes! I used white luster dust brushed on dry to the tops. Then I added the faces. For these, I did vanlla shells and a peppermint buttercream.
There is a bakery near me that specializes in macarons and they have one that is passion fruit and it is AMAZING. this perfect blend of sweet and tart.

I've attempted them once and it was a huge fail. I keep telling myself to do it again, but I chicken out. They are so time consuming. I now understand why bakeries charge so much for a single cookie. LOL.
Those are awesome! I attempted my first Macarons with dd and they were a big flop!
What recipe did you use? What method is it? My friend swears by the Italian method so that’s my next try.
I took a class this summer for macarons and we used the Italian method. They came out pretty well but the dude helped us every step of the way making sure we did everything right. It is very precise and if your ingredients are off by just a few grams it can affect the end result. I have not attempted to make them again but want to. but the class was 4 hours and it was not enough time. Ideally you make the ganache the day before so it has time to harden a bit so that it does leak out when you put the cookies together. So it is a lengthy and precise process and I just haven't had the time to attempt it on my own. And even if the ones that came out badly tasted very good so unless you're trying to impress people, the failures taste just as good
