Today is my one year wedding anniversary, and unfortunately I won't even be seeing my DH until 10:30pm tonight.
DH normally only works until 6pm on Mondays and we were going to have dinner together, but without thinking about the date he agreed last week to work a late shift.
We were going to do dinner last night instead, but we were so exhausted that we ended up picking up Subway and watching a movie at home. DH thanked me for the awesome anniversary dinner. Haha.
I'm thinking about picking up some cupcakes from a bakery down the street from work, and chilling a bottle of bubbly for when he gets home from work.
Anybody else have a pretty lame 1st anniversary? Or a totally awesome one?

We went out to dinner at a place we'd been meaning to try.
We've never gone on a trip or anything for our anniversary as we're always spent-out from Christmas (anniversary is 11 days later) and partied out from NYE (we always host a bash at our house).
Had dinner at the place where our wedding reception was and then stayed in a hotel on the lake. It was nice but DH was sick and we had just gotten back from Mexico so sort of anti-climactic. This year (2nd) we didn't do anything I don't think.

Happy anniversary!
Ours was on a Sunday, so Sat night we got a hotel here locally on the beach and they have a little bar area outside so we just chilled and drank and listened to music. The next morning we had brunch at the hotel. Spent the rest of the day relaxing, watching the wedding video, eating our cake, stuff like that. Nothing crazy, but fun.

We went out of town to a friend's wedding, which we had way too much fun at, so we were traveling back home and were extremely tired and hungover. I don't even remember eating that day.

We both worked that day and didn't do anything on the specific day. We went out to Bonefish several weeks later. We've had 3 anniversaries and haven't done anything spectacular for any of them. We usually don't even do gifts. Maybe a card if we're feeling generous.
Happy anniversary! We took a weekend trip together. I bought him tickets to a baseball game. He bought me tickets to a concert. We enjoyed all three of those things. A few months later, we ate the top tier of our wedding cake that my MIL had meticulously stored in her freezer. It was so delicious even the second time around.
we were nearing the end of packing our apartment and moving across the country so everything was in boxes and the house was a mess. our older car, which we planned to sell for $3k right before we moved, just completely died the day before. we sold it for $300 in scrap, then went car shopping, and spent the rest of the day freaking out about money (we were making $19k HHI at the time). i called my mom in tears around supper time because we had little food in the house (we were trying to eat up what was in the cupboards and were getting to the end, and the aforementioned money freak out made us hesitant to go buy anything). my mom, so kindly, transfered us $40 so we could have a decent meal on our anniversary, but just as we were leaving a huge storm hit and knocked out power to most of the town so the only place we could find open a couple hours later was subway. we bought two subs, brought them home, sat in the middle of the floor, and ate. i think we just gave up and went to bed after that.
i think to date, that was the most miserable day of our married life!
happy anniversary! hopefully you can sneak in a bit of a celebration tonight when he gets home from work!
We planned a vacation for that week, so we were in Napa and SF.
This was our initial plan, to be on a vacation during our 1st anniversary. We talked about it while we were at a bar on our honeymoon and decided that so long as I wasn't hugely pregnant or something that we should take a mini-vacation somewhere.
We were supposed to be going together to a music festival in South Carolina this week, but then DH's boss' wife got pregnant and is due this week. DH is the assistant manager and has to be there if his boss is out for leave, so he couldn't go.
But I mentioned in a total AW post earlier, that DH actually paid for my best friend and I go to to the music festival anyway and we leave on Wednesday. So even though he felt really bad about having to work tonight, he likes to remind me how awesome his gift was.

We spent out 1st anniversary at a friend's wedding. Which was pretty cool. We went down a few days early for a mini vacation. The following year, DH and that friend planned a 5K race together on their 1st and our 2nd anniversary. Neither of them realized. Though fortunately that wasn't all day or anything.
Last year (#7), DH told me all week that we were going to do something fun. But then didn't actually plan it. I have no idea if he actually had anything in mind, or what. It got to be 7pm and I asked him if we were going out to dinner or something. He said he'd just had a big snack and wasn't hungry. I was so pissed.
We've tried to get away for the weekend for each one. This year though, I'm not sure what we'll do. I'm traveling for work the actual week, so we may just skip trying to plan anything this year other than dinner.
1st: We got a Priceline deal for a Philadephia hotel, so we did some sightseeing and stayed overnight. Had a few nice, but not fancy or $$$, meals.
2nd: Stayed home and cooked. I remember making lamb chops (since we had them at our wedding and at friends' weddings) but I don't remember the entree - steak, maybe?
Both of us worked..but weeks later we went diving then we made a really nice dinner. Plan some nice outings later in the week. We don't go out during the week due to work, so for us its no big deal not celebrating on the day.
DH was traveling 6 wks at a time for work back then so I can't remember...
Oh wait hold up I actually remembered typing this!!! We went to an excellent italian resturant and made a vow to go there every year...2 yrs later we havent been back yet.
Ours was earlier this month (9/4). We went up to the mountains for the night, took the dogs on a nice long hike, had a great dinner out, and spent some time hot tubbing and just hanging out.
I highly recommend the bubbly and cupcakes! Sounds fun.
We went to Minneapolis for a long weekend - booked a suite, one nice dinner, had some plans to go do some shopping and see some fun things, but mostly just vegged around the room all weekend. We also cracked open the bottle of mead that we brought home from our honeymoon in Ireland.
We've made it a tradition to do a drive-able city break every anniversary. This year we did Omaha. We'll do something a bit more large scale for landmark anniversaries.
