We had a pretty good one - we went up to Love, Va., rented a cabin, spent the day driving around and hitting wineries, went fishing, caught only a fresh water crawfish and ate the top layer of our wedding cake

Ours was a Sunday (Many people who get married on a Sat have their 1st anni on a Sunday, which is nice. I think leap year got in there and screwed you up. Sorry.) We went out for a really nice dinner on the Sat. evening. On Sunday we had a low key day - we watched our wedding video, recited our ketubah to each other and walked around the park where we had our wedding photos.
Your cupcakes and champagne ideas sounds great! And if you feel disappointed, maybe you can do something next weekend to celebrate.
We had an awesome 1st anniversary. DH booked the cottage we had on our wedding night (at our venue) and got our caterer to make us dinner (which we took back to the cottage and ate). He also called a florist and sent her a photo of my bouquet, which she recreated into a centerpiece that was sitting on the table of the cottage. We visited the historic park and church where we got married. It was great.
This year is going to be lame - anniversary is on a tuesday right before my husband's triathalon and a week and a half before my first half marathon, where we have to travel and spend more money. ::sigh::

Happy anniversary.
Yep, it was that darn leap year. Oh well!
I'm not disappointed, and I'll be happy as long as we get to spend a little bit of time together tonight. It just means that I'll have to be tired tomorrow because I'm usually asleep by 10:30pm.

We didn't do anything because FIL was in the hospital and it was very stressful because we didn't know if he'd make it out (he did and is now fine). I think we may have gone to dinner on our dating anniversary 3 months later instead which was after FIL got out of the hospital
We moved abroad the day before our 1st anniversary. On our actual anniversary, we went out for dinner with H's coworker and his wife, they are expats also and were kind of giving us the lowdown lol.
It wasn't very romantic, but there was lots of excitement about our life in a new place.
We went for a few days in NYC, it was awesome. But it was the only anniversary where we actually did something exciting, lol. We've now been married 7 years.

We were at his cousin's wedding on our anniversary day but it turned out great. In the morning, he left to get a newspaper and brought be home flowers and heart shaped bagels for breakfast. Right before we left he placed the beautiful bracelet on my wrist and I thought that was it but he surpised me again later. He asked his cousin to play our wedding song, he didn't want to take away from them, he didn't make it a big deal... when the song came on he just grabbed me from the bar, said they were playing "our song" then went to dance.
For our first, we went away for a night. Actually, the anniversary was a Sunday, and we were out of town Saturday night. Close enough. We went out for a nice dinner and stayed at a historic inn. I loved every minute of it. DH also bought me jewelry, which was so sweet, but not necessary.
This year, the actual anniversary is on a Tuesday, and we have Pats tickets for the Sunday before that, so I'm sure we're not leaving town. I bet we'll go out to dinner. Works for me!
I set up a special tasting menu of all the food that was served at our reception, which was at a barbecue restaurant in NYC. It was awesome, and now we do it (or just go to dinner there) every year.
Happy anniversary! My 1st anniversary was July 17th. The actual anniversary was on a Tuesday, and I think on that night we just went out and had a nice dinner. However, the weekend before, we went on a road trip. Nothing too fancy, just a nice getaway. It was fun. Sorry you wont see your H until late tonight!

We got a cabin in the woods with a hot tub. We brought the dog, who slept by the fire the entire weekend. We boned in the hot tub, of course, which is dirty and is also bad for your vag. But! It was SO good. We also went on a canopy zipline tour.

Our first anniversary is a week from today, so Saturday night we have reservations at a really nice steakhouse. We're taking a cab so we will probably enjoy a bottle of wine or two with our meals, then maybe walk over to a few of the nearby bars before we head home. I can't believe how fast this year went by.

We didn't do anything. I would've loved to have gone on a trip but it wasn't possible. Everything was just bad timing. My H was working crazy hours, I was sick often with tons of medical bills, I'd also developed food allergies and couldn't go out to eat. I made him a [not very good] dinner for when he got off work around midnight and that's about it.
We've definitely made up for it in the last year though! We've traveled a lot and had a blast.
