Question about legoland CA -driving from OC

The kids and me are going to CA in a couple of weeks to visit our former/longtime nanny that moved back there. She lives in Tustin I believe. We want to take them to Legoland probably on that Thur or fri. How bad is the traffic going to be-are we crazy? What time would you aim to leave Tustin and then Legoland? I think the park is open 10-5 that day.

Leave at 8am and you should be there around 9am if there are no traffic issues. Its about a 45 minute drive if traffic is moving. You can check sigalert for freeway info. They are still doing road destruction on the 5 in the San Clemente area but they try to get the work done at night.

Not crazy at all. My MIL is in Santa Ana (next to Tustin) and takes the grandkids kids at least once a year. Takes a little less than hour.

Also, if you don’t want the travel time, you could do Knotts about 20-30 minutes or Disneyland about 15 minutes from my house in Tustin.

Ok perfect! We can handle that. Doesn’t sound bad at all.
She mentioned Knotts too since they have a family member that works there so we may also do that but DS has been asking to go to legoland for a while now. We did WDW last year so we will do Disneyland at some other time when DH is with us.

If you stay all day at Legoland I strongly suggest staying in the area and grabbing dinner before heading up the freeway to the OC. There are a ton of great restaurants near Legoland and having a nice dinner sure beats sitting in traffic on the 5.

You will be able to use the carpool lane in Orange County; it will help out a bit on the drive back.
