Hahahaha! No. But I grew up in SoCal and I remember Friday night when my step dad got paid we'd go to Sizzler and it was like, special. "ohhhhh, we're going to Sizzler tonight!" Me and my sister still talk about that.

Sadly, no Sizzler in Texas!
I grew up in San Diego and once a month or so, when my dad got paid (enlisted Navy), we'd get dressed up and go to Sizzler!! It was what my family considered fancy. We still laugh about it today.
Yes, exactly the same here. Definitely fancy for us, too.

There’s a sizzler by me but I don’t know if it’s open

We moved around a lot! I was born in San Diego and lived in Oceanside, Nipomo, Manhattan Beach, Huntington Beach, Riverside, Big Bear. And I'm sure a lot of places I'm forgetting. :-) We go back and visit quite a bit as most of my family is still there. Going back next month, as a matter of fact!
They do where my family lives and we have a yearly family gathering that nobody wants to host at their house anymore, so they have it in the group room at Sizzler. I moved away before that change and had never been in town for it until this past year.
I HATE buffets. I had food poisoning several times in college from the dorm cafeteria... So, I really wasn’t looking forward to The Sizzler. I didn’t realize/remember you can order off the menu or get the expanded salad bar. I did the salad bar and it was actually pretty good. DH loves buffets and knows I don’t, so the whole week before he kept quoting the movie line “We goin’ Sizzler. We goin’ Sizzler.” If you’re a true Sizzler fan, you’ll know what movie that is from 😉
Man that cheese bread really was amazing. As an adult I am totally grossed out by anything buffet, but I bet sizzler still tastes like my childhood. I am pretty sure my sister threw a fit once when I opted to go there for my birthday dinner.
We always used to go as kids because we thought the lunch buffet was the best thing EVER. We didn’t even like salads lol but for some reason we were all over that salad bar. Must have been the ice cream ha.
The one near me closed down years ago and I don’t think there are any others around.
I ate at a Red Lobster once. I have a funny story that I was all set to share, until I realized it was Red Lobster, not Sizzler.
When I was a kid, Red Lobster was my family’s fancy night out, usually for birthdays. We truly only went out to eat about 4 times a year so it was a big deal.

We had a Ponderosa. That was our family's fancy night out for a long time. (Small rural Ohio town)
In college at home on summer break I waited tables at Red Lobster. (At the time our "big" town over the 2 fancy restaurants were RL and Olive Garden.) Saturday nights we usually ran on a 2 hr wait to be seated. I made GOOD money then. My experience there and then once I moved to the Columbus, Oh location was drastic! LOL!

We had one when we were growing up (on Long Island). Then when I was in California about 7 years ago I saw one and insisted we eat there. Sometimes nostalgia hits hard.
"Why would you ruin perfectly good peanuts by adding candy corn? That's like saying hey, I have these awesome nachos, guess I better add some dryer lint." - Nonny
The only time I've ever heard of it was on Roseanne.
We had a Bonanza, Ponderosa, and Ryan's when I was growing up. Not sure if any are still around. Golden Corrals are making a come back apparently here but we haven't been.

I built their website back in like 2006/7. Never ate at one, though I had a free coupon. Because when you're living in LA in your 20s it doesn't really appeal
Having just looked it up, yes, there are still a couple in my city including one just a few miles from me!! Wow, I thought they all closed like 15 years ago.
Oh man, I don't think so. But I fucking loved Sizzler back in the day in Delaware. I remember their really skinny French fries and that they had Cap'n Crunch on the kids buffet, lol.
Sizzler was our go-to special occasion restaurant back in the early 90's, but I think we stopped going there once the really fancy chains opened in our town, i.e. Olive Garden and Red Lobster.
I just checked Google and it looks like the nearest location is 265 miles away. Oh well. No trips to the giant salad bar for me!
Not anymore, but I remember them well. And Ponderosa.
I visited a Ponderosa with the kids when we were on vacation years ago and now we call it “Kindagrossa.” I think the last one closed in our area about 10 years ago.
