If any of you want to do a challenging but fun/silly race, look into the Seattle Oyster Race! It was the past weekend and this was our second year doing it.
It's like a one-day urban Amazing Race type scavenger hunt. We had a transition area near Denny & Westlake, and had to head out from there to follow/solve clues either on bike or on foot (clues told us which we had to do). We ended up running to and having to get into the pool at Safe & Sound Swimming, biking to Uwajimaya and Occidental Park to do some puzzles, biking to North Lake Union to do stand up paddle boarding, running part way up Queen Anne Hill to play Hill Billy Horseshoes and toss a toilet seat cover over a pole, and biking to Fremont to play beer pong.
Ended up biking 17 miles and running 9, but you don't really realize it because it is all for fun and goofy challenges. I highly recommend the race if they do it again next year!

Yes, you have to have a minimum of 3 people but can have up to 6. If you have 3 people, you all have to be on the course at all times. If you have more than 3 you're considered a relay and can have some people rest in the transition area (as long as you always have 3 people on the course).
We had 4 people so were considered a relay, but we didn't ever have anyone sit out. The 3 person teams are divided into men's, women's, and co-ed but the relay teams are all lumped together. We were the first all woman team to finish (beating the first place 3-person women's team by 30 minutes) and the 4th relay team to finish. We would have been 3rd in the relay but got caught at the Fremont Bridge, twice, and were passed by a team right at the end!
that sounds like a lot of fun!! rei had a sign that said "oyster race" and the date..but i didn't look more into it. i thought it would be eating oysters. i love oysters

Ha, Jennlin. The race started in Colorado and got its name from the Rocky Mountain Oyster. I've read challenges in the past have included eating Rocky Mountain oysters, but not sure you'd enjoy those as well.

This. I do feel a little let down that it's not a race for eating oysters.
