According to O'Keefe, Trump "suspected Obama had presented himself as a foreign student on application materials to ease his way into New York's Columbia University, maybe even Harvard too, and perhaps picked up a few scholarships along the way."
O'Keefe wrote that during the 2013 meeting Trump suggested O'Keefe infiltrate Columbia and obtain the sealed records: "'Nobody else can get this information,'" O'Keefe quoted Trump as saying. "'Do you think you could get inside Columbia?'"
Maddow just said the doctor's name was spelled wrong in that statement.
So is that their strategy? Suppress the results from actual doc Ronny Jackson and release their happy results under the name Ronnie Jackson? This is ridiculous.
OMG. Even a run of the mill public company with a reasonably competent team can run con calls in listen-only mode. I sit in on them frequently and I have never in more than a decade run into a debacle like that. With the resources at its disposal, this WH can't even manage that?!?!
I don't know why the incompetence is still shocking, but this one really gets to me. These idiots are running the country!
And he is supposed to be a business man. The best business man! (Which I would assume would have conf. calls regularly, no?). Idiots.
See, that part doesn't surprise me. Trump's business is privately-held, so he's never had to do quarterly results calls with financial analysts, which is usually where they do these calls that can support dozens or hundreds of callers, where it's listen-only for the executive remarks and then they typically take a few questions where they're asked specifics about the results. It IS different from regular conference calls, where even if you have quite a few people it's not uncontrollable to just have people mute themselves.
He and his team don't even have this bare-minimum experience that the C-level folks at many public companies have.

Ah, I assumed most companies had them. I know I/we do them regularly at our company where we mute everyone's lines and put them in listen only mode for various reasons so made the assumption many did.
First, bullshit he’s in excellent health. He’s overweight, eats terribly and is over 70yo.
Second I keep thinking about this whole “oh no shithole people’s kids will hear!” Maybe I’m a bad parent but my kids hear way worse than that word on the regular. We don’t hide anything that is currently going on from our kids. We talk about it in front of them and encourage them to be engaged too. The only thing we ever really actively work to keep from them is school shootings because they are both already anxious about lockdown drills and I don’t want to add to that because I don’t think it serves any purpose.
Sure, shithole is a curse word but the sentiment is what is so fucking awful and I want them to know that.
Scoop: Teresa Manning — the anti-abortion activist who was put in charge of Title X — was physically escorted from HHS premises today.
Abortion-rights groups had been furious that Manning — who once said that “contraception doesn’t work” — was helping set national strategy for contraception and abortion.
An HHS spokesperson said that Manning “resigned,” although would not say why she was leaving or why it was so sudden.
Manning had served in her role for less than nine months. Her replacement, Valerie Huber, is an advocate for abstinence education.

Yeah, I mean hearing that doesn't even phase my kid but the rise of Trump sure has led us to have some interesting conversations on the appropriate way to talk and act and me trying to do my best to explain that the president is not someone he should emulate.
Worse than listening to him bumble-fuck his way through the word-salad of the SOTU and the self-congratulations you know he has planned for himself, is watching his orange-kool-aid drinking GOP suck-ups talk about how fucking tremendous squirrel-wig is doing at wrecking 'Merica.
That speech will require more than my standard glass of wine...
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I'm cracking up that it looks like they tried to put out a fake doctor report and spelled his name wrong. It's like spelling your mom's name wrong when trying to forge her signature on a school note.
A friend of mine shared this today and it so nails everything. Honestly, how many of us learned about colonialism in school? Sure, I knew about the British Empire to some extent, but it was only later in college, and then even more through self study of the Victorian era, that I learned the full extent. We learn about slavery, but I really think that our education of the West’s exploitation of Africa ends there. We stopped bringing over slaves and then we were SO NICE and white people are THE BEST when we go to Africa and help the poor starving children and we had nothing to do with how they got that way!

So, if someone in the WH press office put together that... release... and purposefully mis-attributed the doctor's name to it... isn't that illegal? I mean, I know it's not an actual signature on a prescription pad or anything, but isn't that impersonating or or or SOMETHING? Can you just willy nilly widely release statements that people didn't say with their names attached?
At the very least it's incredibly disrespectful to a doctor, a military doctor at that. Trust me I get chain of command and all that but. C'mon.
This is obviously a dumb question. They don't care about legality or respect.

Ugh.
We had this discussion when he put out that fake doctor’s note during the campaign. Yes, it’s illegal. Punishments vary by state. No one gives a shit. We all weep into our whiskey.

If kids are too young to hear the word, they're too young to be exposed to the general topics in the news. I have zero sympathy for those who are outraged that their children heard a curse word. Turn off cable television if you don't want your kids to hear the shitty things that are happening in our country and around the world. I often even turn off NPR in the car, just because they talk about big topics that I'd rather control/filter more closely with my kids at this age.
I'm glad they're saying it, and not sugar coating the situation. I'd rather my kids not get unfiltered news right now . It's not the specific words, it's the concepts that they're not ready for. I'm not, either, TBH, but I feel it's my responsibility to be informed.
The funny part of the article is that it says officials were confused because they had briefed 45 on fisa and felt he understood it. Lol he has an attention span of an ant. I also think that he relies on fox and friends because he trusts them more. I think he is paranoid and doesn’t trust any people he interacts with daily so he feels he gets the real news from fox and friends.
