Everett Ryan was born this morning after a c-section, and weighed 7 lbs 14 oz (NOT the nine that maternal fetal medicine predicted and certainly not the 10 that the on-call doc who broke my water predicted)!

We came in at 3 pm Friday and he was born at 4:25 am Saturday. He wasn't tolerating labor well, and we learned why when he was born. He has giant bruises on his cheek from going into the birth canal crooked and his being face shoved into the pubic bone.

We did skin to skin in recovery for 90 minutes but then he had to spend six hours in special care. He is doing really well, other than his sugars fluctuating a bit too low occasionally.

The C-section was painless but I was terrified going into it. I could not believe how quickly he came out! Stitching up took like five times as long.

Unfortunately I am still on clear liquids because I kee vomiting. I am very much looking forward to FOOD.

My huge Kid2 was estimated at 10lb 14oz at 37+6, and “only” ended up being 9lb 11oz a week later, so I feel you on the size being off. I think you had polyhydraminos too, and maybe the fluid distorts them on the u/s? Anyway, keep up the pain meds, the gas meds, the laxatives, etc. I brought my own miralax and made a cocktail of 2 caps, plus 1 of those little apple juice cups, plus 1 of cranberry juice, and 2 cups worth of water to keep things moving.

He's beautiful! Love the name. My c-sectioned little E was 7lbs 13oz and smaller than they anticipated, too. Sometimes the estimates cause so much stress for no reason!
