Basically I have a painful red rash under my breast. It's from my skin rubbing together. I know I do not wear a supportive enough bra, so that just compounds the issue. I did Googling and they list many home DIY remedies and say if it continues, you may have to see your doc. I would love to avoid a trip to the doctor since I've missed work once recently for being sick, I am still getting over being sick and would like to avoid the germ infestation that is the waiting room, and I may need to take off two days next week for a funeral since my grandmother is most likely going to pass this weekend.
So all that to say, if I could treat this shit at home, that would be great. DH had suggested I use cortisone cream, so I put that on already. Mayo Clinic and others online say to make sure it stays dry and maybe use a barrier cream. Any suggestions? Has anyone had it under your breast or elsewhere? What worked for you? I'm desperate!
for a rubbing rash I've used like a cooling powder (gold bond is the medicated type but I've also used the Summer's Eve (I think)) It keeps the area dry and helps with friction.

I don't have any pustules. It's really red and raw and super gross but also smells bad (which they say is normal with intertrigo). Good to know about the cortisone cream. I will try something different.

It could be yeast. I will try the suggestions you guys have listed. I know I need to try and keep it dry. At least it's not summer when I tend to sweat under my boobs. Sorry for all the TMI. Unfortunately my regular bras hit right where this is and it hurts but my sports bras are not as supportive.
It definitely sounds like yeast. I had the same thing a few months ago and used Triple Paste AF and a moisture-wicking cloth called Interdry underneath the breast. It was probably 75% better within a day. I was amazed! You can get both online or at Walgreens etc. I believe.

Definitely lotrimin. It is almost certainly yeast or at least partly yeast. Put it on a couple of times a day for ten days. This happened to me after a trip to the beach with a spaghetti strap bathing suit. My sad mom boobs need a halter top.

I'd do a little compound of 1/3 aquaphor, 1/3 Neosporin and 1/3 yeast cream, maybe keep it covered in gauze. That mixture cleared up stubborn diaper rashes or irritation very well.
You have to be careful with creams like aquafor and such. They are good barrier creams but they also lock in moisture (so I’ve been told during our fights with yeast infections on DS’s penis)
I have a spot above my c-section scar that cracks open every once in awhile. I’ve had luck with powders such as Honest Company baby powder (no talc) and gold bond. I apply liberally and often, cleaning once a day.
Have your gp or obgyn call in an rx for nystatin topical powder. It will kill the yeast and help reduce the moisture buildup under there. Also post shower, dry with a hair dryer on cool before applying.
Lotrimin or similar until it clears up. Be careful with powders or aquaphor because they can make it worse. There’s a powder called Zeasorb that is an anti-fungal powder.
(These are recs given to me by a derm when I had a similar issue. Although he gave me an rx strength cream to clear it up first. But when I saw it happening again otc lotrimin helped.)

It doesn't itch at all. In fact, I don't really feel it at all unless I rub it (and then it is sore). I have focused on keeping it dry and it looks slightly less red today. I may end up going to urgent care for my cough/cold that won't go away after 2 weeks since I am so desperate, so I guess I can have them look at this as well. Thanks again for the advice!

Does your doctor or local hospital have a nurse hotline or a telemedicine offering (where you can video chat with a Dr)? That way you can get a medical opinion AND avoid excess germs.

I have lots of loose skin from weight loss surgery and being obese throughout my life-I’ve definitely had yeast rashes that weren’t itchy but were smelly, angry and red. Those actually tend to get worse fast (for me at least-they’ll go from red and sore if it’s rubbed at and then it’s like an open weepy mess) if not treated than the typical itchy rash.

My grandmother had this issue years ago and would use yeast infection cream (the kind for external use) and then put a panty liner/pad lining the bra where it hit there. It seemed to help.
