Us white people suck - I am sorry.
I was actually wondering if this would happen the other day. I remember when the Ghostbuster thing happened and it was totally because it was an all female lead cast. I was telling a friend that I bet the same thing happens for Black Panther and they will try to disguise it but it'll be because racism.

I guess, maybe I’m out of the loop but I kind of think that article overstates RT’s importance. Nevertheless, I guess I should go about figuring out how to leave reviews there so I can give it {whatever they consider the best review}. We are seeing it on opening night.
God, that is so ridiculous. The obsessions with everything always being the same (and white... and male) and maintaining a status quo in every facet of life is just maddening. I remember when this happened with Ghost busters and it was a large part of the movie tanking despite it being reasonably good.
I saw wonderwoman this weekend and enjoyed it a lot - first super hero movie I've liked (or watched) in ages because I'm so tired of the same old super hero movies (how many times can a person watch a Spiderman origin story in a decade???). Seeing Wonderwoman made me actually interested in Black Panther simply because I got a taste of how nice it is to see a movie that hasn't been done yet. This downvoting really can't be explained away by anything other than racism.
I'm ridiculously excited to see this movie. I don't usually look at the user reviews, but I will check RT for the critics' score. It won't keep me from seeing a movie I'm really excited about, but I know it's steered me away from stuff (like if the critics have it at less than 30%, it's usually a pass).
This group was so fucking smarmy. Their whole mantra was "we're pro-DC and anti-Marvel, so we're tanking THIS movie." Really? THIS movie? Why on earth would THIS movie be your specific target? Oh, and they went after Last Jedi because too many strong female characters were telling the dudes what was what.
Fuck 'em. I'll go see Black Panther 3x now just to make sure they get all my money, though I can probably get adequate reveling done in 2 viewings.

Exactly. H just said, “those assholes. Now I want to see it 6x”. I fucking reject these hating pieces of racist shit and their disgusting cowardice and malignant white supremacy.

Considering some of the stuff I've seen on the tweets pertaining to this coming movie, I'm not surprised. Folks are out there trying to convince me that both Black Lightening and and Black Panther are awful.
I'll never understand the mental gymnastics to actively go out of your way to do this. Fucking swine. We'll be seeing the film in theaters multiple times.

I mean even the early reviews for this movie and that show are good so people can fuck off with that. Get mad and protest Avengers Infinity War.
ALSO in THIS instance, Marvel/Disney IS listening to its fans, the black ones, who have been asking for a Black Panther origin film for decades! DC Comics needs new movie people. Marvel has spent YEARS developing the universe and characters on screen so that these movies are good. YEARS. They should pay attention to what worked with Wonder Woman and use best practices from that.

My favorite movie theater by my house (where I plan to see the film on opening night) is currently only showing 2 showtimes for Black Panther. But if you go on Fandango, there are about 10 showings. I can't help but wonder if this is more than an innocent mistake and someone is hoping for low ticket sales.
I was thinking it was just a mistake, but given the recent lack of publicity for Proud Mary and articles like the one here, I can't help but wonder.

Black Lightening is so, so good. If Anissa gets a costume, I'm totally going to make one for myself. I can't wait to see Black Panther!

I don't want to dismiss this if it IS intentional.
But I had the same issue with my theater when some movies come out. Fandango shows lots of show times but when I try to buy tickets before opening it errors out. I hope this is the same for you.

This is such a good show. Possible spoiler if you aren't familiar with the story/comic.

Certain chains are really bad about posting movie times that are more than a few days out. It is really annoying. One of our local ones did it with Coco; they waited until the wednesday prior to post showtimes.

You'd better get on it.
ETA: elleblue beat me to it. I didn't hide it behind a spoiler since the image has been out longer than the show's been airing.
There is a chain here called Silverado that just Iris saying showtimes if a movie sells out on opening night. There last time I was there and it happened there movie ended up on 18 screens and the only reason it wasn't all is because the other screens did not have the car ability to play the format. This is an aside but if you have trouble getting tickets it might be worth calling around to see if there is one like this near you.
I don't think I'll be seeing it opening night because I get up at 3 am, but I will see it at the first room theatre.
I don't see many movies in theaters (last ones were in June... child care issues), but I am so excited to see Black Panther! I'll tell H we need to make it happen.
