I love to bake and am curious as to what they looked like and bonus points if you talk about what kind of fillings / cake flavors/ icing or fondant you had.
I guess my pics aren't on this computer, but our cake flavers were AMAZING.
Chocolate with Bailey's Irish Cream Filling and Vanilla with Sugared Strawberries. OMG.
I actually considered contacting a local bakery to make a cake for H for our anniversary tomorrow, but I don't think it would ever be as good (and we don't need cake LOL).
Cake and flowers made by my mom and grandma. Frosted by my dad. Amazingly, assembled at home and transported 1.5 miles over a large hill and railroad track bump to the church/reception hall while in their wedding clothes.
I loved our cake! Top and bottom layers were red velvet with cream cheese filing. Middle two layers were vanilla cake with chocolate and strawberry mousse filling.
We just a super simple cake - each tier was a different flavor, then topped with lush buttercream frosting. I know we had champagne, I think we had a lemon, a strawberry and a double chocolate Guinness. The frosting was slightly different on each tier, though - I can't remember, but it was all the same creamy white color.
Our decorator brought in the fresh flowers that matched my bouquet and the table decor. I loved it, and it was so delicious!

I was really disappointed at the time because the flowers on top were entirely the wrong color. Hello ... that's NOT yellow. *sigh*
Cake = bakery marble with chocolate filling (my choice). This particular bakery has my favorite marble cake in all the world. Vanilla whip cream frosting. Plain, but yummy.
ETA - no judging the reception venue. It was a "picnic" since it was only a few days after July 4th.
My husband had only one request during the entire wedding planning... A golf wedding cake. The gold cake was chocolate ganache and the other cake was white with raspberry filling.

I loved our cake and cupcakes. The top tier was marble with a chocolate butter cream frosting. The cupcakes were peanut butter chocolate, angel food cake with lemon frosting, and cookies and cream. We had both full sized cupcakes and mini ones so guest (and me!) could try all three.

Ron Ben Israel was the designer, years before he had that show on the Food Network. Those are all sugar flowers. I'm not even into flowers but it was a stunning piece of food art. It was also extremely delicious: vanilla spice cake with 3 buttercream layers: blackberry, blood orange, and vanilla. We served it with miniature ice cream cones with either maple gingersnap or dulce de leche ice cream.
This is the first time I'm trying to attach a photo - hopefully this works.
The topper was H's grandparents or great grandparents' cake topper. The cake was very inexpensive and absolutely delicious! The little old lady that made it was adorable too.

Here's a poor photo that shows the interior layers.

Our cake was supposed have the true twisted offset layers but it came out not so twisted so it just looked like each layer was barely turned and someone could set them right, lol. That's ok, it was a fabulous light and airy fresh strawberries and whipped frosting.

Clearly the look of the cake wasn't important to me. It was very simple. And GMIL thought it was fake, so she stuck her finger in it at the beginning of the reception. There was a blackwatch plaid ribbon at the bottom of each layer to match the men's kilts
Buttercream frosting. One layer was a raspberry filling, another was some sort of almond filling. DH took a bite and said, "Holy shit that's good cake".
