One of my favorite things about our wedding! We gave the baker our colors, and our only rule was no fondant. Other than that, we wanted her to surprise us. This is what she came up with:
I made it. Flavors: vanilla with white chocolate filling, chocolate with hazelnut and mocha, chocolate with white chocolate raspberry, carrot cake with cream cheese, and chocolate with chocolate (saved and just as good a year later)

Ours was supposed to be alternating layers of a white cake with raspberry filling and a cannoli filling, but it was all raspberry. Still delicious though! And buttercream frosting.
It's hard to see all of the detail on the cake but this is from Facebook (I don't have the photos on this computer)...
The baker was great because he did not charge us to use the fountain for the cake. I love the height it added to the cake since we only had 3 small tiers (~100 people, did not save top tier).
We had 3 tiers with 3 different flavor combinations
Marble Swirl with Chocolate Mousse Marble Swirl with Peanut Butter Cup Vanilla with Peanut Butter Cup
I think those were the flavor combinations. I am looking at the bakers website and these 3 combos look right. I know we did a vanilla cake without any chocolate bc my cousin gets migraines from chocolate.
The baker also had an amazing cannoli cream filling and mocha cream filling. He has some random cake flavors listed too like Cherry Nut / Banana Nut / Pineapple Nut etc.
ETA: The wedding cake was all buttercream and sugar flowers. I am not a fan of fondant. The grooms cake (below) did have fondant.
This was our grooms cake ...
Some of the kids thought it was an actual hat and tried to pick it up! We caught them before they actually got to it. DH is a huge Tampa Bay Rays fan so I brought the baker a baseball cap to replicate it! It was delicious.

A close-up of the cake topper because I love it.
I can't really remember what flavor it was, but it was pretty yummy. I do remember that the swags and floral were supposed to alternate and I even drew it out for them, but they still screwed it up. And it was supposed to be yellow. Oh well.

Kind of like this...but three tiers and each tier had a different design. One was polka dots like shown, one spiral swirls, and I don't remember the third.
The layers were pound cake, red velvet pound cake, and chocolate pound cake. Plain buttercream filling. I was disappointed by the lack of variety offered by my bakery. I didn't shop around because it was my favorite bakery, and I didn't realize until too late that all of their cakes could not be made into wedding cake flavors.

ours was square, 3 tiers, with little silver balls (that were ugly)...but the cake was phenomenal!
Mojito cake - vanilla cake, infused (after baking) with white rum, simple syrup and lime juice (wet almost like a tres leches) with a fresh mint mousse filling, iced in whipped topping. I made it up, after having mojitos the night we were engaged
People still bring it up to this day, and it was over 5 yrs ago...

My sister made our cake. It was chocolate and amazingly delicious! I only got a bite. :-( Everyone else got cupcakes (which my sister also made with lots of help).
Our cake alternated layers of champagne cake with raspberry filling and chocolate cake with strawberry filling. The frosting was butter cream but the diamond pattern on the alternate layers uses fondant to create the diamond.
Unfortunately, the picture won't load and I do not know why.
We got married on the beach so we went with a beachy theme. The cake was vanilla with raspberry filling. The gift bags had little shells made out of white chocolate and sand made out of sugar.

My cake looked like a swamp monster.
When I asked him to use lavender, I was really just talking about the flower itself, not the whole plant. Oh, well. The carrot cake and cream cheese frosting were so, so delicious.
Our cake was soo delicious! I really was unhappy with all of the wedding flowers, the ones they used on the cake as well. But I loved how simple it was.
