Does he have some form of color blindness? I couldn't work out for ages why my husband with good taste would gravitate towards colors where the tone was so ... bright/florescent. He would tell me that a color was boring and I couldn't get it at all. Then we realized that he had a mild form of color blindness that washes out colors, so for colors to look bright to him they needed to be extra bright.
Thats no help at all, but just made me think of it.

My H wanted to do baby blue walls in our living room with our charcoal grey couches and wood trim. We put up a sample swatch... Then I decided to go with greige. Sorry H.
I have the same color couch, I think. We have gray walls with white curtains, but I do have some yellow throw pillows and throw pillows with orange and yellow in them. I have a navy and white throw rug with wood floors.

I would use lighter rugs and pillows/accents to break it up. and maybe a large print/canvas on the wall behind the couch to stop the "blend" of the colors.
(opinion subject to revision based on actual photos)
I'd try to pull in the wall color with patterned rugs & pillows that have a bit of the wall color with other more neutral/muted tones. (Or convince your H to change it! LOL! I don't know if I could live with electric blue walls!)
Your couch sounds pretty neutral. Hard to say without seeing both. But, if you don't want white (I get it)then what about doing bright accents like orange or bright pink or bright yellow? Make it super colorful. IDK.

The couch looks totally charcoal to me, and the color you posted looks a bit like my own living room walls. lol. What's the paint brand/color?
We have a dark-ish grey couch and the walls are Tower Bridge by Behr (which is brighter than it looks online). I ended up using a lot of light grey accents. The base of our dining table is yellow and that looks great with the walls, too.

...Are you sure that couch is navy? I thought those colors would look horrendous together, but neither color looks like what I thought you were describing.
If you are opposed to yellow accents, I'd probably stick with neutrals like beige and blush, and try to do copper accents instead of gold.
I moved this to both of my monitors and it's not horrifying on either of them. The swatch looks more teal to me than anything and the couch just looks like a really dark gray.
Ok, it looks the same to me as your swatches. Honestly, I think it's fine. The blue is a little bright, but it's not electric and feels more teal to me.
I agree with doing yellow as an accent. Maybe a fun/colorful rug and pull colors from that? farmvillelover has that one in her living room that people on here liked. It had a bunch of colors, which might pull in the wall color and then you could accent with others.

I’d probably look for some rust accents that waver between orange and brown. I think it’s a workable color but very in your face. It’s fine with the couch.

Been browsing for ideas for myself lately, so here are some. I'd find an accent/fun pillow that pulls together the blue, yellow and creamy white (example below) then do some solids. The last pillow hopefully would merge the walls and couch color together- hard to tell on phone.
I think one bright color is enough. The wall pops enough as it is so I would try to anchor it with more muted colors, like more navy, dark turquoise, charcoal. I like the idea of goldenrod for contrast.

I think this is smart. The last two rugs I posted have some deeper orange, but something a little redder might be good.
I would call the wall color peacock and it's really trendy! What does other furniture in the room look like? I think you can tie those together lots of ways.
I agree that you can work with that. Throw pillows would work in navy, charcoal, cream, and grey. I also agree with some pops of mustard in fun accents.
