I have a hair appointment tomorrow, and I'm just tired of my hair and looking for something different. Lately I have been doing burgundy highlights, and I like them, though I feel like they don't last super long. I want something different and fun.
I was considering getting some really dark/almost navy blue highlights (my hair is dark brown and I would have it colored slightly darker, almost black). I was going to upload some inspiration pics, but I keep getting an err bear. But here's a link to one I found: ETA Apparently it auto embedded my pic!
I did. I started with a couple of small pieces, progressed to the whole bottom section of my hair (that's this pic) and eventually to almost my whole head was like 8 different colors. My natural hair color is pretty dark, as well. I loved it. It did fade some but I just washed with cool water and didn't scrub it with shampoo...basically I just washed the top of my hair and let it run through the colored part. It didn't look terrible while fading since it was so vivid to start with, it just started looking more pastel.
Eta: my pics keep disappearing. IDK what's up. Sorry!
I have blue and green underlights. They usually last 2-3 months before the fading gets to be too much for me. They do get pretty light, but IMO, they still look intentional. I do have my hair bleached first, though, so the colors really stand out. But that means they fade to pastel colors.
For me, they key to making the color last as long as it does, is only washing every other day with a sulfate-free shampoo, and washing with cold water for as long as I can tolerate it. If I can get to 2 months, I'm happy.
So I (hopefully) attached a pic of one of my hair choices. This is a lighter blue obv, but I love a darker blue and blue last’s longer. I also have dark brown hair that ends up dyed black adjacent. I’ve done many colors if you have questions. I’m hoping to do green next. But yet again blue had a good fade and that’s ideal.
ETA: Some “angry bear” won’t let me upload my pic. But a definite yes vote for the blue you posted in the pics.
I did a chunk of blue in the front. It lasted actually a very long time and faded to sort of a teal that was also really pretty. I’m not sure what the deal is with my hair type, but color lasts forever.

Maybe trying using brass off shampoo and mask. I use it to keep my hair from being to brassy but it’s a blue shampoo and if I leave it in too long my blonde pieces turn silver.
I would love to do his except I feel like it wouldn’t go over well at work. I visit vendors once a month and I am sure my boss would also not appreciate it. I need a less stuffy job.

I dyed half my hair blue on my last day of work when I was laid off in December because I wasn’t sure if I’d ever have an employer that allowed it so it was “now or never”.
Maybe if I only did it on the underside? I’ll have to ask next time I get a cut to see what might work.

Thanks, everyone. I teach but my job is cool with it. We don't have a dress code in our contract at all, and some other teachers have done different colors. I did have one co-worker say to me before (when I just had brown hair) that she doesn't understand why people put "weird" colors in their hair, especially grown adults. That it isn't professional So I can't wait to see the look on her face tomorrow lol.
