How much insurance for your home do you have?

We live in a tiny apt. I just called to renew today. We have $50k contents plus $12k jewelry
My H thinks we should up the jewelry because we do have a lot (gifts from my wedding - iranian tradition)

So what do you have for contents and your rationale?

We have exact replacement for 300k to rebuild, plus another policy for 1 M of liability for the animals. I am more concerned about other people getting hurt from my property then people stealing stuff.

I would up them both to be honest. If you had a fire or someone in your building did and you were left with just the clothes on your backs (& any pets too) and you lost everything, it would cost more than you think to replace it all. Heck, undies are like $2-$10/pair, bras like $25-100 each, shoes $30-150 a pair, laptop, software, pots & pans, bed, bedding, tv, curtains, etc.

And the added cost of additional coverage will be small.

I have replacement coverage on my house, $500k liability & $300k contents. I'm also looking at getting a $2-3m umbrella policy.

I think we have around $50k of contents, not including my engagement ring rider, but I don't think that's nearly enough. We have to figure that out soon, because we'll be renewing.

The rationale for thinking it is too low is just thinking about the things we have. Things add up. I have gotten over $50k in my head right now.
