More specifics, including a heartbreaking pic from the father of one of the survivors (his son is hospitalized and holding hands with two other surviving teammates from their hospital beds).
Every single person on that bus was either injured or killed. So tragic.

Itโs the worst fear of anyone who drives prairie highways. For the most part we take it for granted that we will be safe and then something this terrible happens. This is my hometown and it will take years before it will things will seem โnormalโ again.

Iโm so sorry.
Thank you, I didnโt know any of the team but Iโm finding out throughout the morning how far reaching the impacts will be on people I do know and love. A horrible situation all around.
This is so heartbreaking. We are big fans of our local WHL and sometimes they seem like such babies to me. Long travel by bus is such an integral part of everything. I can't imagine how hard this might be moving forward for survivors.

Shit, when I read this yesterday I assumed it was 10-12 year olds, not 16-20 (I was wondering why there weren't more people on the bus, parents tend to go when they are much younger). These poor kids. My cousin played college hockey (and is just barely over age for this team), I know they become like family to one another, how tragic this is. I hope this was just an accident, that truck driver is going to feel so much guilt regardless. Ugh.

The town theyโre from only has a population of 6,000. I canโt imagine the high school has a large number of students. Can you imagine? Probably everyone is going to know at least one of the boys lost.
I canโt believe the truck driver wasnโt even injured. I wonder if it wasnโt a direct it. Maybe the bus was just clipped but then rolled. So, so sad.

Not a high school team. Itโs a juniors team which is a semi-pro team.

Many of the boys did attend the high school and also high schools in the surrounding area. Everyone is completely devastated. ETA: The city and province have been extraordinary in their response in regards to the mental health of all those affected. An open crisis line has been provided and the local arena has been open with available trauma counsellors. I am so proud of how everyone has pulled together to support one another.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.โ
This is so tragic. I couldnโt even imagine, I find myself going from upset and in tears to relieved that my brother and his friends were not in the bus, and back again. (My brother is older now but played junior hockey for a couple years, not in this league but took their bus everywhere.)
I am so sorry morecowbell for what you and your town are going through.
This has spread so far and impacted so many people....I live 1300 miles away and there are three people in my little home town that played or went to camps with some of these kids, one that lived with one of the kids that passed away while he was playing in Canada. The hockey community is tight knit to begin with and for these kids that play away from home and live with billet families, the team is their family for many months out of the year. My kids love their teammates like brothers and they live at home. I can't begin to imagine what the families are going through, both of those that passed and of the survivors.

Wow. The Humboldt Broncos go fund me is the 3rd highest funded. Only behind #Times Up Legal Fund ($21.5MM) and the Vegas shooting victims fund ($10.9MM). There are now 16 victims, not 14.

I want to Like this, but just canโt.
It was amazing to see all the jerseys around workplaces and schools today.
The jerseys that were worn all around Canada (and other parts of the world) put smiles on my face today. Itโs a small gesture but Iโm sure the families appreciated it.
