It wasn't what I was expecting. I didn't follow their premise, if all the electricity went out, why did car engines stop? That made no sense to me. It seemed odd that they just left home and quickly ended up in Chicago. Also, the first man they talked to ended up being the one they were looking for, seemed off. I will give it one more try though.
Damn, I meant to record it and forgot. I'll record and wait until I know the show will continue beyond a few episodes. lol. I hate getting hooked on a show only for it to get cancelled right away.

Spoilers is a given, right? I'm not going off anything but the first episode though (clearly all I've seen).
That's part of the overall mystery - the google guy said it when he was teaching the kids. Why did the laws of physics stop working? Simple engines should work. We don't know what it means yet.

I didn't watch the show, but will if it sticks around. I love this type of "end of the world as we know it" drama.
I read a series of books that was similar and the power went out and car engines stopped due to EMPs or Electro Magnetic Pulses. They basically fry the circuitry that we use to run most modern things. So old car engines would work (pre-computers), but new ones would not.

Yes, that makes sense - and would on a rational basis, but in this world nothing works.
I mean, how is DNA processed in a few hours on criminal shows? How do cases go to trial in a day? A little suspension of disbelief is needed in TV . (Not saying the 'reason' may not turn out to be stupid, but we don't know yet it!)

Okay, I can buy that. What was the name of the series? I love stuff like that too.
Eh. I didn't think it was terrible, I didn't think it was great. I thought it was better than that show from last year where people went back to prehistoric times.
My beef is why do kids always have to be in shows and act like idiots. It seems like most complaints i have are always centered around dumbass kids on shows doing dumbass things. It drives me crazy.

Agreed all around. If she doesn't stop with the whole let's trust people BS, I may kill her.

The first book was called Last Light, its by Teri Blackstock. Here's the link to her website.
