What would you all recommend for a DH who's into fancy food?
They have some really good rubs. Some work better for chicken, or fish, or beef and at least in-store you can build your own gift box. I'd be surprised if you can't do that online, too.
I like that I get to pick, but it makes it harder. I am certainly not going to complain though, Penzey's is great! I picked up my last box from the office and I think I found them two or three new customers lol.
Since I'm stocked up on my staples (and my favorites were in the freebies) I got some stuff I was curious about to get the free shipping. Now I need to figure out what to do with black cardamom.
I got a few things I've been considering buying for a while to meet the $15 plus got a spice blend I've wanted to try for one of my freebies. I'll finally have white pepper! And a whole lot of delicious cinnamon and more of their hot cocoa.
ETA: fix typos from being sick and not focusing well.
Semi-related ... if you have a local Whole Foods do they sell bulk spices? I have two WF stores close to my house but neither have bulk spices.
My local grocery store (HEB) sells spices in bulk. It's amazing! I pay between $0.10-$0.30 to refill my glass jars. And I feel that the spices are very fresh. Penzey's has some good ones but I <3 what I get at HEB.
I am pleasantly surprised that there are not that many I will never shop at Penzeys on their Facebook post. I only ran across one, but I suspect that there were more the first time they did something like this.

It’s painful to be allergic to cinnamon with so many kinds available. I ended up stalling on an order earlier in the week because I didn’t want to pay for shipping. Just needed $3 more, but ended up spending $22. I’m excited to try the peppercorns. And taco seasoning. Plus my mom will love the Florida Seasoning I got her.
Yes, it was one of their freebies awhile ago so I ended up with 2 of the big jars. Really good to make raspberry vinaigrette dressing! That is what I made the most with it, but I also made a variation of this slaw on their website, which was good but I definitely altered that dressing recipe a bit. Also just dolloped it onto brie and crostini.

I wish I had an HEB here in my state. Part of my department is in San Antonio so when I go visit, I have to hit the HEB.

We love all of the blends we've tried. I seriously don't think I have a favorite. Also, their taco seasoning is far and away the best I've ever had. I'd been making my own for years because we didn't like the crap in the pouches at the supermarket, but the Penzey's is even better than what I was making.
I just ordered peppercorns, roasted garlic, and smoked paprika from this giveaway.
Penzey's virgin here too. I just ordered taco seasoning, fox point, roasted garlic, green goddess, Penzey's pepper, and Chicago steak seasoning. SO excited!
I got Mural of Flavor, Chicago Steak and Mitchell Street Steak as my freebies!
I was ordering from work and didn't know what all I already had, so I just paid the shipping on those since they were already free. There's a store a few miles from work that I keep saying I need to visit soon.

Stock up on spices! You just fill these clear little baggies so it would travel very well! I always take spices to my ILs when I visit them. (they are out of state with no HEB

I love Penzeys, discovered thanks to CEP!
Today I came across these build your own gift boxes and thought that would be great as part of my brother's wedding gift. I got some of my favorites to put in there - Roasted Garlic, Taco seasoning, Vietnamese cinnamon (free), and Berbere, and some others. And a small roasted garlic and bag of peppercorns for free for myself
I have all the things Penzeys....Fox Point, Arizona Dreaming, Northwoods, BBQ3000, Pie Spice (for my oats), hot cocoa mixes, and full range of normal spices.....I did order Bold Taco Seasoning in the free bag just for a reprieve of making my own mix for a couple of weeks. We do lots of Mexican seasoned beef/chicken/ground turkey.
My grocer has bulk spices, but I don't think they rotate the stock often and sometimes they smell a little off (like overwhelming eucalyptus for cardamom) which makes me wonder if there's some counterfeiting or impurities.
Perfect timing! I have been waiting for a lowered shipping deal for a while because I'm out of my beloved Mural of Flavor (why doesn't this come in bags?) and Parisien Bonnes Herbes. I also got North Woods, Fox Point, and Roasted Garlic with the coupon codes.
I ordered some $5 teacher gift boxes along with my freebies—mural of flavor, tellicherry peppercorns, and Chicago steak seasoning.
I did the same thing. Two girls in middle school means a lot of teachers. (I think I bought 14 of them just to be safe. Some for the front office as well or maybe the elementary librarian I love.) Plus I'll send one to my sister. I wonder if they have a nurse's box so my other sister doesn't feel left out, lol. I got Mural of Flavor, Fox Point and Mitchell Street as the freebies.
My spice cabinet is overflowing. I love this company! Do any of you have a good spice rack that holds Penzey’s sized bottles? I might have to resort to building something.
Let me take a picture of the one I bought from Savory awhile ago. I can't use it in this house because there isn't wall space, so I have a spice drawer. If it will work for you, you're welcome to it.

Ooh! Thanks! I have no wall space nor cabinet space nor drawer space so this has been a battle.
