I only buy ankle pants now. I get mine from Loft or Old Navy depending on how tailored vs. stretchy I want them. Only do the ON Pixie pants in a dark color though - especially if you have a booty.
Yes. I wear slim ankle pants and a blousey/tunic type top at least twice a week in a business casual environment. I just got a new pair that are stretchy ponte and it's like wearing pajamas to work.
Where do you all get your blousy shirts from? I'm desperately in need of some new tops for work for the summer.
stole the words right out of my mouth. I have a few - but some of them I don't really love and need to be purged. I could stand for one or two fresh ones.
I have short legs and a really long torso so regular length ankle pants are just wants to me. Short length usually is also short in the torso so I look like I have really low-waisted pants.
I bought a pair of pants once and didn't realize they were supposed to be capri pants until I looked at the receipt.
Same! Capri pants are always a weird length - they look like regular pants that shrunk.

What brand is the stretchy ponte pair?
Torrid. So only helpful if you wear over a size 10.

I don't understand why it's so hard for clothes makers to realize that some people just need regular pants with shorter legs.

I love ankle pants! I haven’t been able to find a brand I like since Target discontinued their Merona ones. The ON and A New Day stretch out so badly for me. So disappointing!

Loft mainly, but also the Vince Camuto brand from Nordstrom. Sometimes Ann Taylor and Banana Republic. I’ve been shopping quite a bit from British brands recently too - their clothes seem a lot smarter. Mango, River Island, & Other Stories, Boden.
I just cannot bring myself to buy ankle pants. They just make me feel like I bought pants that were too short.
I bet it's because we're tall and had a hard time finding pants that were long enough, so ankle pants just feel all sorts of wrong lol. But I do like ankle pants!
wawa, Sorry the Vionics are not fitting you well. That's what all of my shoes are but I've been considering other brands because my PF seems to be coming back despite some weight loss; it's possible the slippers I bought that I wear at home all the time are not great though, and I should just buy another pair of the old slippers I had. I can't find another brand with decent-looking shoes that provide arch support though.
wawa , I've had issues with Vionic shoes too. I have a pair of Tide flip flops I wear at home that were life changing for my PF, but I keep trying to buy sandals and dressier shoes and they just don't fit right. It is so disappointing. I've had some luck with Danskos, not the clog types they make but I have some flat mary janes that I wear every day for work that are awesome. They have some cute sneakers I've been meaning to try out too.
Also, if you have a Walking Company store near you, they sell a great selection of supportive shoes. I like being able to try in store since my feet are very picky about shoes.

I was so mad about it because I really really loved the teal Posie flats too - they were going to work PERFECTLY in my wardrobe. But the 7's were too tight and the 7.5's were too big and I'm totally baffled. it wasn't even close either - the 7's I had to shove my feet in there and the 7.5's were flappy.

34 inch inseam checking in. I'm very critical of my pant length for this reason - however, I find that ankle pants with the right shoes/sandals actually look better in many cases.
6' and 35" yo. The Sloan/Ryan from BR come in tall and do alright on me.
But it's 100% about where on the ankle it hits. And I've never been able to wear them with, like, sneakers or such because that just looks hella weird to me because I have issues. So it's either heels or pointy-toe dress flats.
I would REALLY love to try the ones on Long Tall Sally but the crotch fit on theirs look weird on the models and it makes me scared to try.

Tell me about the sizing at Mango. I really like a few of their things, but then when I try to determine my size it wants to know how much I weigh and how old I am and decided I"m a size 8. I'm....skeptical.
Does anyone have recommendations for rigid-soled shoes that look professional? Or good rigid-soled slippers? I sprained my forefoot and I believe one doctor referred to it as turf toe, so I need stability to keep the ball of my foot from moving much while it heals. Right now I have two pairs of sneakers but would love to find more work-appropriate shoes.

As with anything high street (mass market), it varies wildly. Anything tailored like pants I would go true to size and anything flowy/blousy I would size down (sometimes way down). I had to send a dress back and ask for a size 4. I am NOT a size 4. Shipping time isn’t too outrageous.
Another Ankle Pant Fan here! Dittos ESF. They are the perfect length for flats or heels.
My go to is LOFT Marissa Fit (but this is because I have no butt, but a little hip). Loft also has curvy - but not sure what size pant you are. They go up to a size 18.
And ya'll know my signature style. Pant & Blazer for LIFE.
I don't do maxi dresses at the office. Actually, I rarely do dresses ... soooooo...

We need Nita to come back and talk shoes. My ankles (lol) are all jacked up and I need cute but sensible shoes. Every single pair of shoes I current own hurt after a short time.
I bought a pair of croc sandals to wear in the house since being barefoot even hurts but I don’t really want to wear them outside.
I never listened before because I didn’t need to but now my feet are hurting and I’m about to rock some orthopedic sneakers with dresses if I don’t get help, lol.
Yes we do! I was told my feet are really flexible, which is great for dance but apparently awful for trying to recover from foot injuries. NitaX please save us from ourselves!

Turf toe SUCKS. You have my sympathies
Thank you! It's such a hard part of your body to stabilize.

I'm a big fan of Dr. Scholl's and Aerosoles when it comes to my comfy shoe choice. What I don't know is how rigid the shoe is that your dr needs you to be in to properly heal.

So... I actually know quite a bit about this because of my sister's car accident and her shattered sesamoid bones and other associated injuries.
Frankly, it's unlikely you'll find a shoe stiff enough. You should look for an orthotic insert. She actually has one that has a metal plate in it to provide the level of rigidity needed. She got it thru her physical therapist.

LOFT has plus size now! Pants up to size 26!!!!!!!
For those wondering about sizing, I wear the same size at LOFT as I do at Old Navy.
