@sameoldstory , you didn't say she was going the wrong way, so yeah, she should have stopped. My friends and I have had so many bad experiences with drivers who weren't paying attention that it's really hard for me to read anyone being breezy about almost hitting cyclists.
I forgot, this is ML and you are expected to share every.single.nuance lest you be judged.
I want to ditto this. Cars/drivers are the problem here. Not people working to not kill the environment. Learn to drive and lobby your city for bike lanes.
But keep on driving to the gym instead of working physical activity into your life.
LOL forever that this is now shaming people for driving and not being physically active enough. GFY.
Any different than you complaining about people biking?
But hey, maybe we can go back to hearing about all your insignificant problems in life. How are your pots and gaining 5 lbs going?
Ok, so "bikers" are people on motorcycles. People on bicycles are called "cyclists"! And @sameoldstory , I feel no sympathy for you, it's your responsibility to see cyclists and other vehicles (or small children) on the road before you back out. Yeah, sometimes it's hard to see, but it's still your job. Yes, I'm feeling salty about all you people hating on cyclists, I don't get it because there are so many more shitty drivers out there than shitty cyclists. Plus the roads (and laws) are set up such that cars are king, and sometimes cyclists have to bend the rules to get places safely - especially because I can't recall the last time a person driving a car who killed a cyclist got any punishment whatsoever. The best way to murder someone and get away with it in the country is to hit them with your car while they're cycling. And yes, I've lost friends to being hit by cars, and no said friends were not doing anything wrong.

Yeah dude, stop making us cyclists look like complete dickwads.

I'm jumping in because I had a traffic outburst this morning. This is going to be sweary. My morning commute involves a dual merge (well, several actually, but this one in particular this ALWAYS HAPPENS). You know, where the left lane is people getting off the highway who need to get into the right lane to exit, and the right lane is people getting on to the highway who need to get into the left lane to enter? There are usually a shit ton more people getting on to the highway than getting off of it, so the lanes get backed up. If traffic getting on to the highway is at a total stop (which it usually is) I will usually leave one car length in front of me to allow people coming from the left to right room to get out. About half the time the motherfucker behind me will swing around and fill up the gap. WHY?! All you have now done is blocked up traffic in BOTH lanes and you're stopped in front of me instead of behind me! Rage.

You know the awesome guy I’ve been talking to for close to 7 weeks and haven’t met because he’s always working in a different state? He texted me Tuesday morning to say that he’s headed to my state. I said that was awesome and asked what city. He told me and I made a comment about how I always feel like that city is much closer than it really is. We exchanged a couple messages joking about it. He didn’t respond to my last message. About 8 hours later I asked if he thought we’d actually be able to meet this time. No response. Haven’t heard from him since. I’m so confused and I have no clue what happened. I don’t want to text him again and look desperate but I’m really confused why he would do this.

Relevant anecdote, I once watched a cyclist plow down an elderly woman because he was riding on the wrong side of a walking/biking path. He then proceeded to scream at her for not moving out of his way.
I need information from a secretary in another department and she is being really odd and weird about giving it to me (even though my boss - the dean told her to.) I could go around her and get it from another department but I'm getting more and more pissed about the situation.
I had no idea ~cyclists vs. lazy drivers~ was such a hot topic. Frankly, I don't care what vehicle you operate - "don't be an asshole" seems like a simple rule to follow, yes? Good lord.

Oh stop. Just as there are drivers who are a menace to pedestrians and cyclists, there are certainly cyclists who are equally as dangerous. I worked in the long wood medical area in Boston for 10 years and saw countless cyclists blow diagonally through the intersection of Brookline and Longwood (one of the busiest in the city) against lights. Ive even witnessed pedestrians (in a crosswalk with a walk light) get hit by cyclists. The problem is commuters of any kind who have no regard for the safety of themselves or others.
Edited to add: to save you the trouble of scolding me for not riding my bike 10 miles each way to work; I took public transportation at the time.
The construction crew is at our house this morning for kitchen remodel prep and demo, and I'm annoyed that DH isn't giving me minute by minute updates. I should have moved the webcam we use to check in on the dog during the day upstairs so I could see what's happening.
Friends are putting their dog down tomorrow night, and we're so sad, especially DD. The friend watched DD when she was little so this dog was basically her first pet and she and the dog just love each other. I'm taking her over there to say goodbye tonight, and it's going to be rough.
Our good friend made my dog a small steak before we put him down. Maybe you can pick up a nice treat for the dog? Amazingly, our dog who had not been eating for several days, ate every bite of his steak. Sorry for your friend's loss and for your daughter's.

Is climbing up your high horse your way of working physical activity into your life?
May as well toss public transport in here too- People are just assholes Had mr. entitled walk right into me while I was attempting to get off the metro this morning - he got all pissed off about me (and the whole line behind me) continuing to get off the train because he wanted to get ON the train that instant. He wasn't in danger of missing the train, he was just an impatient asshole.

I used to change trains in L'Enfant Plaza. I went prepared to throw elbows every day.
