I hope they won't be in Melbourne when we spend a long weekend up there to celebrate my & DH's birthday. I hate traffic nightmares. And we're booked in at a great rate at the hotel royalty uses when they are in Melbourne.
I would love to know what Meghan’s reply would have been if someone had suggested to her 2 years ago that she would be taking a girls trip with her BFF, the queen of England.
Reportedly its to honor the victims of Grenfell tower, which is thoughtful to see. She and Meghan observed a moment of silence during one of the events today.
This is not a rip on Meghan because she seems lovely. I noticed she had the same trouble I do, our dresses show wrinkles from sitting after we stand. Id she had this problem, it means there is no solution. Someone make an invention to solve this and you will make hundreds.

Ha, I noticed this too. I love linen dresses in the summer, but the second you sit down, bam, wrinkles.

Diana's wedding gown was like this when she got out of the carriage at the church.
I really like Meghan's outfit (and the Queen in lime green!). But I do wish she would wear color. Maybe she's being overly timid in not wanting to upstage the queen, or just being a new royal. She did wear pink for Trooping the Colour, but everything else we've seen her in since and including her wedding has basically been a version of cream.
Also, I'm so glad the Queen likes Meghan. Not just for Meghan and Harry's sake, but because the Queen has kind of a traumatic history with Americans marrying into her family, lol.
I noticed the news channels didn't do a whole big thing like, "Meghan is the first American to marry into the British royal family since... oh. Wait. Nevermind."
Not on that day (and quite honestly, not most days). We've had up and down weather recently - and in the morning it's been in the 40s or 50s, sometimes going to 60s and sometimes into the 70s. Today is reasonably warm and "muggy" but it's really only 73F and 44% humidity but I was sweating while walking a half hour ago.
That's a nice spring green, but isn't it hot/muggy in London in the summer?
(Maybe not hot by SE US standards, but too hot for a long coat?)

Well, to be fair, this is only the third time we have seen her since her wedding, lol, and I don't think its fair to include her wedding dresses in that count.
I think the neutral color is a good pick today since the dress is a statement on its own, and she doesn't clash with the queen at all, but lets the queen stand out in her green. (I think its pretty impossible to upstage the queen anyway.)
Apparently she was nervous when they were getting in the car and didn't know whether to go first or not and asked the queen "what is your preference." I was surprised the queen told her to go first but that makes sense bc then the queen got out first.
Vespasia, I just came in to say the same thing. I swelter when I'm at my Mom's house, no matter what the temperature is outside. And there's my little old 86-year-old mother (86 on Sunday, that is) sitting in her favorite chair, under a blanket.
And re: her hair - supposedly it was very windy there today which I gather she wasn't expecting. I also am not sure how much I would have liked the dress with her hair up.

I think the Queen has eventually learned that it's best for her to unclench, and let her family members live their lives rather than insisting upon "protocol and tradition" for everything.
Plus she's 200 years old and is probably too tired to give a shit anymore, lol.
All that aside, Meghan is supposed to be very nice. And if nothing else, as an actress she's probably very accustomed to making good small talk.

I read that the queen prefers to sit behind the driver. So having Meghan get in first makes sense.

And Meghan seems to be eager to work, and I am sure that pleases the Queen.

Meghan is gorgeous. I also wish she would step outside the cream box. I appreciate her taking a fashion risk. That said, I don’t love the top of of the dress.

I think HRH Guy got in the car first because the Queen was riding on the driver’s side on the way to the rehearsal?
Her first outing with the queen was not the time to go super bold with color. I think we'll see more color as she does events with Harry, William, and Kate and just generally gets more comfortable.
She looked amazing but I figured she'd get comments about her hair with as windy as they said it was. Kate gets those comments too so not surprising.

Even before her marriage, I don't recall her wearing bright, bold things. I love her style because it's stuff I like to wear- brown, black, creams, and a touch of navy or dark green. To add color- maybe a pale pink or dark purple/burgundy

I hate all the criticism she gets for her hair. There are a million pics of Kate Middleton with her hair blowing all around or her dress blowing all around.

Kate gets crap for those things too. It's stupid and annoying and sometimes overshadows the good things they're doing, but at least in this area most people are being equal haters.
