I finally checked out the map for the 10K I'm running in July in London and read the reviews. Looks like it's a tough race to PB in as there are around 5,000 runners and it's not organised well enough into pacing pens (walkers joining in the 1 hour pacing for example). Oh, well. But it looks like it'll be quite cool to have all those roads closed and to see the sights. Yes, I live here, but it's always fun to be a tourist in your own city.
Oh fun! One of my favorite things about the century ride we did was riding through downtown philadelphia without any traffic (we had a rolling closure - police escort) so I totally feel you on seeing the sights like that. I've seen that area a million times, but it was neat seeing it like that.
My favorite 10k is pretty crowded too, but I didn't have any issues getting my sub 1 hour there, so I think as long as you keep chugging away despite the crowds you might surprise yourself.
My random - TriBestie's 35th birthday is today, and she took the day off to swim 3500m then run 3.5 miles and tomorrow she's riding 35 miles and I'm filled with jealousy. Such a good idea!

Oooh. I like that. I'm turning 50 in December so maybe I can figure out something to do that month - run 50 miles in the month of my 50th or something like that.
I finally had a weekday morning run that felt great- and I'm off work today- coincidence? Added bonus I ran into a former coworker along the way that was walking a new puppy- puppy fix!!!
1. Our county is silly and has a liquor control agency. Which, ugh. But they just held a bourbon lottery in honor of American Whiskey Appreciation Week and guess who won a bottle of EH TAYLOR SINGLE BARREL!?!?!
2. I'm leading my first ever ride for my cycling club tomorrow. It's a badge of honor to be tapped to be considered a strong and consistent enough rider to do so. The president of our club along with half of the board is going to be riding in my group. I've got this. The course is roads I've been on a dozen times. But I AM FREAKING OUT. I'll be fine tomorrow, for real, but I still feel like I have impostor syndrome being on the board of one of the largest and best clubs in the country.
3. I bought the CUTEST dress in existence and it came yesterday and IT IS EVERYTHING. And I have to wait until the end of the month to wear it, boooooo.
3. Talking about super cute new clothings without at least a link to said dress is a bannable offense. As a mod you should know this. It's second only to posting about a new kitten or puppy with no picture.
mrsukyankee, I have never been to London and this sounds like an awesome race. I would love to run through a city with it being fully closed down to runners and get to "see the sights." Have fun!
wawa, that is a BRILLIANT idea that TB has! I love it.
I am not sure I have a H&F random...I have been enjoying my runs more and slowly, SLOWLY adding more mileage. But my big random is that S is starting to walk independently! He is just shy of 11 months and walking around a few steps at a time (will walk ALL OVER if he can have his hand on something). When he does it he gets really proud of himself and claps for himself, haha.

@vtcupcake , I am fully jealous of your bourbon win - that would cost almost £100 in London. I recently purchased Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7 yr and I'm in love. Also note, in England, they call it Boor-bin and I laugh and laugh at them.
@vtcupcake, You got this. You're such a cycling badass. It's been so cool to watch your journey.
wawa, That's really cool! I'm turning 35 next Sunday. I did a 5K on my birthday last year and it turns out I would rather sleep in than work out.
Today is the last day of two pickups for the forseeable future! DS is going to the summer camp that DD's preschool runs. Then DD will be starting Kindergarten in the Fall at DS' school, which is like a quarter mile from our house. Come fall I will be getting at least 30 minutes of my day back. It may not sound like a lot, but it will make a big difference.
I have been struggling to get runs in this week. H is traveling and summer camp hours are short and cramping my style. Hoping next week will be better.
It is going to be absurdly hot and humid here this weekend and I am already dreading running in it.
I am somehow fitting into all of those clothes that I keep in the back corner of my closet "in case they fit again someday". So that is pretty crazy. I am convinced that it was going dairy free that made the difference because that is the only variable that I changed. I think that eliminating the massive amount of cheese that I normally eat made all of the difference.
H&F related- I feel like I’ve had no time to get acclimated to warm weather running. It was cold and then warm! I love warm but I needed some 60 degree runs and that really didn’t happen. It is going to be in the 90s this weekend! What the hell?!
Non H&F- DD’s birthday party is this weekend. Bigger party at a trampoline place but then a few girls are sleeping over. Ugh there is always drama. Hope it goes ok and I survive!

There’s a local half marathon here that supports a good cause and has a free training group that has a lot of fun people in it. But, I refuse to support this race because it’s mascot is a hyper sexualized rabbit ( I think Jessica rabbit) , and I refuse to own any item of clothing with an anthropomorphized bunny with its tits hanging out .
But then I feel guilty and I donate the race fee directly to the organization the race supports.
@vtcupcake link, woman, we want a link, not a text that only one person will see!
Today was a good day at the end of a good week of training. I'm just pretty generally in a good little spot with the various factors in my life, which is SO NICE and feels so balanced after a period of my life that was definitely not balanced. I'd love to get a little leaner - in part because I miss my abs, and in part because I know my gymnastics would be easier without the extra 5 kg I've got hanging around - but I'm not stressed about it and am feeling very "there is a season for everything in life".

I'm going to Italy and Malta in a week. I'll be wearing a bikini because, well, you just do in Europe regardless of size. And I can't stop eating. I need to stop overeating. I'm fine with eating whatever I want but jeez - stop eating so much of it!
I was hoping to work out today, but it didn't happen because DS2 is home sick with pinkeye (again!). Really hoping that he starts sleeping better and isn't sick so much so that I can get some real workouts and runs in. On the plus side, I seem to be losing weight! Surprising, considering I was bingeing on leftover birthday cake earlier this week. I guess apart from the cake I've been eating healthier.

I was just getting home from my run this morning when my mom called me to let me know that my dog (who moved to their house about 3 weeks ago because our stairs were too much for her) was passing away. She was completely healthy besides her hips, so it was totally unexpected. I'm so glad DH has a super flexible job so I could go be with them.

I'm volunteering for WS100 again next weekend (Rucky Chucky again) and this year the crossing is on foot, not via raft. So they're requiring a wetsuit for volunteers (ick). You guys, I wear a size 16 (maybe an 18 in certain brands). I'm pudgy, but I'm not like ... unusually or abnormally fat, I don't think. So I went to the rafting company that does wetsuit rental for the event (they're scuba instead of tri, less fragile) and I swear to GOD the guy looked at me and went, straight out, "We won't have anything that will fit you. Volunteer for a different location." I'm so freaking angry. A) RUDE. B) WHO SAYS THAT? and C) DO SHORT PUDGY WOMEN NOT ALSO LIKE TO HAVE FUN? FREAKING DISCRIMINATORY.
So I'm renting one online, instead. SCREW HIM. I'd rather BUY A CUSTOM WETSUIT at this point and never wear it again than give that guy ANY of my money. Asshole.

I would use every tool at my disposal - social media, talking to other volunteers at the event, even athletes if you can - to make sure every soul possible knows about this asshat.
I'd file a complaint with the BBB too. Because FUCK HIM.
mrs.jacinthe fuck THAT. Rude ass motherfucker. Blast 'em.
Also I really don't understand sports companies that top out as a size 12. There are a lot of them. And they'll say "oh the market isn't there" but THEY'VE self limited the market by discouraging people to even try when they can't fit the gear.
It's BIZARRE to me that MH and I consistently are buying the biggest size many companies make in stuff like Tri gear or his backpacking stuff.

I went for my first group bike ride of the year and felt strong. I feel like my swimming and biking are improving, but running sucks. I have gotten so slow. I mean, I was slow to begin with and have just gotten slower. WTF?
