H’s friend is a firefighter in the Redding area. I just can’t imagine how hard he must be working right now. His family must be losing their minds. It’s just so scary.
I just can’t even imagine. They are doing everything they can and more and it just doesn’t seem to be working. I can’t imagine how tired they are and I hope they stay safe.
I lived in Redding (I started out as homeless with the kids camping atound there, Shingletown, Whiskeytown when my XH was first disabled then got a place in the south end shortly after my youngest was born.) My grandson’s Dad has family there. I still have friends in Anderson and Cottonwood. I’ve been watching the damage with increasing horror.
Stay safe. Evacuate before it’s necessary if it comes down to it.
Not sure if you saw this, but it's pretty adorable. SF CHP officer rescues baby deer.
So far my inlaws house (off Placer) has made it, hoping for you and yours.
Yes, that definitely brought a smile to my face. Both the officer and deer look so happy.
We have some good news today. The fire is 20% contained and some evacuations are being lifted. The smoke and ash are not as bad today. They said the fire is moving more like a normal fire now. I saw the fire moving and the flames spreading on Thursday evening and it was just unbelievable how fast it was going.
Operation BBQ Relief is a non-profit disaster relief organization that provides hot BBQ meals to those affected by disasters and the first responders helping those communities. In 2017, we were recognized by CNN Heroes as one of the top 10 finalist for Hero of the Year.
I just found out my SIL's dad and stepmom lost everything. They had evacuated aren't are safe along with their dog, but it all burned. They are moving back here to TN when things are settled. I feel so bad for them. I want to help, but they have so many people that care both here and there. I'll find some way to do something.

I’m so sorry! I’m glad they and their dog are safe!
