My biggest 8/7 primary is in Kansas. The election results will be a driving factor in whether we run our Kansas campaign next year as we are trying to maintain veto-able margins for the Medicaid bill. Right now we are 3 votes short of a veto in the house and it sounds like our groups think they can narrow or close that margin.
I also am holding out a small sliver of hope that Laura Kelly ekes out both the D nomination and wins the general. I’m also curious to see whether Kobach beats out Colyer in the primary. The gov race is one of the more dramatic ones in my opinion.
Washington state is full of "Progressive" assholes who want to primary our incumbents and there's too much discussion of "Maria Cantwell is safe so now is the best time to send a message." and "Rick Larsen is owned by Big Banks so we need to unendorsed him." and "our LD will not endorse a candidate who does not support Medicare for All."
That's how Tom Foley lost his Speaker of the House gig and it's how we're going to lose seats. I hate purist @$$#%)&$!

Shit is crazy here. I see more Colyer signs than Kobach signs but I am not holding my breath on that one. Wish I’d switched my party so I could vote against Kobach.
I am getting inundated with mailers for Brent Welder and canvassers came here Sunday (total Bernie Bros talking about how Welder is approved by Bernie). I just wanna vote for whoever is most likely to beat Yoder.
Ohio already had a primary, but we have a special election for the 12th district. Danny O'Conner against Troy Balderson (a mega-Trumper). It's the first time I've ever been able to have a lawn sign. I don't know what polling looks like, but O'Conner has a hard fight. I think the GOP is nervous, though, because both Pence and Trump are coming to campaign for him. Pence was here a few days ago and Trump is coming on Saturday.

I'm in Kansas and I think the Governor's race is a big one this year. I also went to college with one of the Dem candidates, so feel a bit more close to it.
I'm in Michigan! I just saw Mike Bishop saying some disgusting things on social media. I hate that guy. Voting for Slotkin.
Probably voting for Whitmer for Governor. Abduls health care and college plans will legit save my family boatloads and I was wavering but he is not polling well (I saw a poll that more people in Michigan had negative feelings towards him than positive). So I don't think he will win the general. But I'm going to be sad about it.
I'm trying to figure out which judge to vote for at this point.

I think that if Abdul had put some more resources into commercials and mail outside of metro Detroit, he would be polling better. If I didn't know better, based on the media I have seen, I would think that only Shri and Gretchen were running for the nomination. There is zero about Abdul up here.
Agreed. I'm in the Battle Creek area and I only knew he was running because I saw it mentioned on here.
Thoughts on Jim Hines? I'm torn on voting on the GOP side of the ballot, since I'm really ok with most Dem candidates and will (obviously) vote D in November.

Oh that's disappointing Come on Abdul, get it together. I'm hoping he stays in politics and tries to get some changes made since I dont think he will be elected this go around but I would like him involved in some capacity. I want my healthcare lol.

If it makes you feel any better (probably not given what I'm about to say lol) I don't know a single health policy analyst who doesn't look at the MichCare plan and scratch their heads wondering what the back-end financials look like. Some of the ideas are there but it feels like they are being disingenuous about the overall cost of the program as well as out of pocket costs for consumers (or assuming very very large contributions from employer/corporate taxes which are likely a non-starter politically). Otherwise there is about 0% chance the financials check out. I credit him for providing quite a lot of information about his plan, unlike many candidates, but there are pieces missing here.

I said the same thing about the GOP being a little nervous since they’re sending in both assholes.
Are you in the Indivisible12 FB group or the Danny O’Connor for Congress? There’s been a lot of good discussion on both pages! I’ll admit I’m nervous. We need him to win this...and then turn around and win in November.

I hope he sticks with it even if he loses because I think he could be great at the state level as a representative or state senator or something like that.
Did you get any of the terrible Sandy Pensler mailers? They were awful.
Nope, the only mailer I got was for a judge. Most of what I've seen has been on Facebook, I cant scroll through my feed without an Abdul ad. I've seen nothing from Republicans other than yard signs for state representatives and judges.

I’m in Michigan and really interested in the governor’s race (obviously) but also the Democratic primary in the 9th. The current seat holder is retiring and his son is running for his seat (Andy Levin). Levin has a huge name advantage because of his dad and his uncle was in the US Senate. But he’s made some really dismissive comments against his main primary opponent. Referred to her huge accomplishments at the state level as “couple years in the legislature or whatever.” I think she’s better qualified anyway so I’m really hoping she wipes the floor with him. She’s incredibly passionate about some of the issues I am most passionate about.
I really hope Whitmer wins the Dem primary for governor. I also really like El-Sayed, but agree that I'd like him to have some experience working with state-level government first. I really hope he sticks around, and would be happy to vote for him if he managed to pull off the nomination. I think either one could win the election in November.
I know it's a longshot, but I would love to see Fayrouz Saad win the primary for Michigan's 11th district. I had the opportunity to go to a fundraiser for her, and she was amazing. I am not in her district, but if any of you are - check her out.

I got a Pensler mailer. It wasn't even subtle, coded, dog-whistle type racism; it was just outright, "holy shit, what am I reading?" racist BS.
I might like El-Sayed more, if not for the fact that all the Bernie Bros I know are all in for him. I'd vote for him in the general if he wins the primary, but I likely will be voting for Whitmer.

I don’t think I am. I live down the street from a city councilwoman, so I kind of get info from her
seeyalater52 do you have any recommendations for democratic candidates I should vote for in KS? Governor and to run against Yoder.
I admittedly haven’t been following the congressional races at all so I cant really comment on Yoder’s opponents. From what I’ve seen for Governor I like Kelly who seems to be the front runner in the D primary. However keep in mind I’m mostly evaluating that from a yes/no would support Medicaid expansion or not angle not super holistically.

I thought that there was a thread on here about how this is not a great idea, but I can't remember why. Can someone remind me? The reason I ask is because I'm unaffiliated and can declare a party on voting day, and after seeing that Trump has endorsed Kobach I want to cast a vote for Colyer, but I don't know if it's wise to do so. (I thought it had something to do with falsely inflating the number of registered Republicans? Which maybe doesn't matter in Kansas...)
Voted today in Michigan! I was number 214 in my precinct, and there were 4 people behind me, around noon. Had to wait in line for a few minutes, because there were only 2 poll workers checking people in (one to give you your application, one to give you your ballot), and 3 people getting ballots in front of me, so it was a little slow, but I've *never* seen more than one other person in the room with me when I was voting before other than on November election days.

I'm wondering what the prevailing thoughts are on Welder since Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez have endorsed him. Saw him on CNN (I think) last night. Looked today and he wasn't even mentioned in the Wichita "Meet the Dems" article of just two weeks ago. Seems Bernie and the Progressives are pushing him to the fore at the last minute. What are your thoughts on a Sanders supported Dem vs. "establishment" Dem in KS today?
(Not that it really matters since I don't live in Kansas. But I am curious as to how the Progressive push appears in more red areas. Suppose I could just drive to Yakima or Ellensburg to find out. lol.)
I'm in Michigan too (Southern Oakland Co.). I was voter 144 in my precinct. I think Whitmer is going to win, and I'm fine with that. My concern is that lots of El Sayed supporters won't vote for anyone else in the general. So, it will be a Bernie thing over again. I won't say "Bernie Bro" because there are quite a few women in my vicinity who were die-hard Bernie supporters. It's disappointing when someone doesn't vote for someone they agree with on 80% of the issues and allow someone they disagree with on 90% of the issues win.

I’ve heard more buzz around Davis, but I’m not in-the-know with that progressive news.

I also saw "Bernie and Ocasio-Cortez stump in Kansas to huge, crowded rallies" stories coming down Facebook so it's getting traction outside the state. I was wondering how much it was getting in-state. Not enough to upset the traditional Dems from the sound of it. (good news to me, anyway.)
Do they have some sort of counter at precincts or are you guys asking the volunteers?
We voted at lunch time in Livingston County MI and there were maybe 15 other people in the room. I dont know what's normal, we moved here last spring but a nice old lady commented how much she loves seeing couples vote together which made me laugh. This is our voting date haha.
