I have been voting for 18 years this November, and today was the first time the majority of my votes went to women! I voted for women in every race where they were on the ballot. All told, I voted for 3 white women, 1 black woman, 1 Native woman, 2 black men, and 2 white men.
The most exciting part was realizing that even in the races where my chosen candidate may not win, the Democrats are going to nominate solid, qualified people for every race. The same cannot be said of the GOP primary.
Now I sit back and anxiously wait for the results from WI-01, where I hope Cathy Myers follows in Gretchen Whitmer’s footsteps and defeats the national media darling in her race. Energy this year is coming from women, so Dems would be wise to put up a woman to take Paul Ryan’s seat.

My former coworker is running for state treasurer in Wisconsin, I'm super excited for her. Although I also kind of love that there are three women running for the nomination.
I’m 4 hours into my first primary as an election judge. I’ll just say, it’s an interesting study in people.
Any good stories you can tell us? My DH was an election attorney/poll watcher in Cleveland in '04. (We moved to Washington state in '05 where it's mail-in ballots and caucuses.) The main thing he came back with was that the R poll watcher was trained to pretty much challenge every ballot he could. But he wasn't a good storyteller about individual stories.
I'm hoping for Cathy Myers in WI-01 over Randy Bryce. My concern is that he's got national attention and funds and a nickname that sticks with folks whereas she's "the teacher" (which might also resonate but fingers crossed.) I liked Randy Bryce for his opening salvo/commercial but as time went on I liked Cathy Myers more and more. I don't see anything from him on my feed anymore but she comes down it regularly so I'm hoping that she's been getting ad revenue and name recognition locally and it translates into votes.
Omg!!! So I texted my dad this morning asking again to consider changing his vote to Cathy Myers. My dad changed his mind! I flipped both my parents! 😊
I will be watching tonight!!! I am hoping for a big Myers win.
I am so fired up over these primaries. There are so many awesome Democrats on the ballot in so many states, that every Tuesday I feel like I did the day Hillary won California and cinched the nomination.
Every time I read about a new woman or person of color running for office, I add them to my Twitter feed so I can watch the party be remade into something that looks like the America I want to live in, and be reminded of how much work there is to do in the next 83 days.

I’m in WI 01. Initially I was keen on Bryce but went over to Myers in the last couple months. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out tonight for her but hopefully Randy can put together a successful campaign for November. I will do what I can to help my district go blue. I will say, around my town, I hardly saw Myers signs or literature but my town is weird in that half of us go Ryan, half go to Sensenbrenner’s district.
I have been out of town for nearly three weeks and I realized I didn’t miss my town’s wannabe snotty aura. This could become one of those stupid self congratulating posts so I won’t really go into detail but it just revolves around the polling place in my town and just how much I hope the wave is coming.
Kobach scares me. We are FINALLY seeing a tiny bit of light after overturning Brownback’s tax failure. I fear what will come back to be - and then some - under him. We need Laura Kelly to win. We cannot put that fool in charge.

Honestly I don’t give a shit about Bryce winning. It would be nice for flipping the House, but there are much more winnable districts with better candidates. He’s not smart, he’s sexist, and he has a shady history with back child support and the timing of a debt payoff. The fact that so many people jumped behind him because of one ad and completely ignored a very qualified woman is disheartening. If he debates Steil, he’s going to bomb. My prediction is that districts with enter candidates - particularly women and minorities - will flip blue and WI-01 will stay red. I know for me, without Myers on the ballot, I won’t donate or volunteer. I’ll save my energy for governor and senate and my dollars for out of state races that are more flippable.
Lamont won the D nomination bigly in CT, which is not a surprise. His opponent Stefanowski is a Trumper businessman who still believes in trickle down economics. The only people I know who supported him in the primary are the worst people ever so here’s hoping Ds pull out a win in November. Our current D Governor is pretty unpopular across the board which makes me nervous about turnout, however, D turnout yesterday was higher than R so we’ll see!
Jahana Hayes who was National Teacher of the Year in 2016 won the nom for Esty’s seat in the 5th district. I have liked what I’ve seen from her so far (not my district, but my parents live there).

Analysts I am seeing are saying they think the third party candidate is going to siphon votes from Kelly and let Kobaxh win.
Which says a lot about how the left will probably continue to cut its nose off to spite its face.

But he has a catchy twitter handle name! (and not even being sarcastic, that is one of the reasons people got to excited about him). Why do you say he is sexist? (not arguing, I really don't care for the guy, I just want to rage a bit more).
I have a lot of thoughts about PSA's discussion on super PAC money in yesterday's pod and how they are greatly overestimating how much voters, particularly in state and local elections, care about that topic.
I am starting to feel like the CM guys are becoming what they have tried not to become....insiders who are kind of out of touch with what voters think and they are relying way too much on the opinions of people who are active on social media.
This is the super left’s new purity test but to me it’s such a misguided test. The real thing that needs to be changed is the scotus decision on citizens united and refusing to vote for candidates that would appoint liberal judges seems reall framing atuoid to me

He's had a couple of tweets about Ivanka that were really icky. One of them was about making sure she'd be taken care of when Jared goes to prison. I'm all for dragging Ivanka, but the whole "little lady needs her man to take care of her" thing was so gross. There was another one about Ivanka that I forgot.
He also only paid off his back child support when he decided to run. The line he's given is that like a lot of Americans, he fell on hard times and got behind on his obligations and he and his ex-wife worked it out. I get that, but the back child support was OLD and the fact that he didn't pay it off until he decided to run is gross. I am so not here for deadbeat dads.
I just would not be surprised if Steil is able to dig up dirt like this and use it against him. He's not going to be able to dazzle in a debate because he's not smart. Really, other than a catchy Twitter handle and some people producing good ads, I don't see what he brings to the table besides being a Democrat. I just see all this energy around the country coming from women, and it's really annoying to see a completely mediocre white man defeat a really qualified woman.
Ilhan Omar wins the DFL nomination for Keith Ellison's Congressional district. She could be 1 of 2 of the first Muslim women to be elected to Congress (the other is from Michigan). Omar is heavily favored as this seat has been Democratic for decades.

Nothing too exciting. I’m tired today. I think I’ll work the general election, but not all day.

I voted for Lamont yesterday because my family knows Ganim and he is an asshole. I worry about November because so many people hate Malloy. I hope Lamont does a good job in coming months of earning the trust of people that are sick of Malloy.
