I've gotten blisters 3 times, each were on my toes. Two of those times were during a trail run when my feet got wet. Another time I'm not sure what happened but it was the next run after a trail so I suspect it had to do with that.
The socks im seeing are like $12-13 a pair. Any other suggestions? I am running 4/week and really don't want to do more laundry just for my dumb socks needs.
I should mention also they are on the sides of my toes, not the heels or anything. I'm still going to try tying my shoes with the heel lock method to see if that helps.
I think it has more to do with fit, swelling, wetness and your feet than the actual socks - at least, thats my experience. I wear cheapo cotton (mon dieu!) Adidas socks most of the time. I sometimes get blisters on very very long runs on hot days.
My suggestions are probably in the $12 range. I wear mainly balega and features for running. I usually buy them when our running store has a buy 3 get 1 free deal.
I also have a multi pack of under armor socks similar to these that I wear I for everything but running.
I have always been prone to blisters between my toes when my feet get too soggy (long runs in warm temps, rainy long-ish runs, super sweaty runs in general). I have tried all kinds of socks and shoes and body glide/alternatives. The only thing that has really helped is taping my toes when the blisters are healing to allow them to heal and preventatively taping when I’m going to do something that I suspect will cause blisters between my toes. I use a waterproof tape that is stretchy so that it stays put and doesn’t cut off my circulation as my feet swell. My favorite kind is Nextcare brand. I only tape every other toe, generally the second and fourth ones does the trick for me. After discovering this I can run in any sock at all.
ETA: I also use the same tape to tape under my sport bra band for long runs in hot weather to prevent chafing.
If your feet are relatively small, you can get Balega socks for kids for about half the cost of adult ones. I use the Under Armor socks posted above for other activities also.
I wear balegas as of this year, but I buy them half price at Sierra trading Post. They're usually seconds, with some flaw that messes up the decorataive details. Like a random zig of color when it's supposed to be a zag.
I wear balegas, feetures, swiftwick, smartwool, darntough, and none are cheap but keep your eye out for sales and also like wawa said, places like Sierra trading Post and leftlane sports often have deals. Between the toes bodyglide usually works for me. My ultra friends swear by taping.
I’m also a balega or feetures girl. I started off with just a pair or 2 and slowly bought some more. I have enough for my runs during the week but at first I’d just use for my long run. IMO they are worth it.
I have occasionally found Balega socks (my preferred running socks) at Marshall's or TJ Max for a lot less. When I do, I buy out their inventory in my size. I don't have any recs that have a cheaper regular price point though. I def have "running socks" and "everything else in life" socks, just like shoes.
Just a quick update: I went to REI in person and there was an ultra runner in the sock section. He told me based on where my blisters were-between my toes--that I should get toe socks. Injinjis I think they are called.
I did, they are weird, but after 3 runs I LIKE THEM. Toe socks where have you been all my life? $14.
I don't think I will need them for every run but at least long or wet runs or while I heal.

Thank you everyone!!
Glad you found something that works! I've heard they're amazing and have some ultra friends that swear by them.

I literally just came in here to recommend these. They're super popular around here (big ultra running community). I have two pairs and while they're weird at first, I've never had a blister (back in the day when I could run, that is).
I saw this on the app and came to say that I LOVE the toe socks. They are expensive but when I had been training for half marathons, I found them to be amazing.
