Avenatti has commented, and it seems to be without his usual arrogance:
Text:
The developments of today will permit us to have the stay lifted in the civil case & should also permit us to proceed with an expedited deposition of Trump under oath about what he knew, when he knew it, and what he did about it. We will disclose it all to the public.
sparrowsong, that quote from that tweet makes the word business lose all meaning and sounds like the ramblings of a nervous/guilty person.
It’s a doozy. I keep reading it and laughing out loud. Little hard to establish Michael the big businessman’s business as paying off Trumps hookers and porn stars as not being big, big business that’s very much his business.
It's not confirmed yet but it sounds like potentially federal and state - the campaign finance laws are federal but the taxi medallion fraud stuff could be either state or fed.
Why would they offer a plea deal and he doesn’t have to cooperate?
I don’t know enough about all of this. I’m not lawyer-y at all. Not even a L&O one.
Plea deal as in he's going to plead guilty to avoid a trial in exchange for a lesser sentence. Otherwise known as taking the fall for his clients.
So to me that just means that all of this (waves hands frantically at the entire political shitstain that is currently happening) will just continue as normal because he is not flipping on Trump? Or does his pleading guilty open him and his clients up to other related things that could bring Trump down?
I really have the most elementary level of understanding in all of this.

Almost none of the documents/etc they seized was found to be protected, it’s possible they don’t need him to flip because they have hard evidence (e-mails, voicemails, texts) so he is not needed.
He may also not have anything relevant to add to flip for.

I had forgotten about this. Michael Cohen threatened a reporter, on tape, in 2015:
@timkmak Follow Follow @timkmak More "I will make sure that you and I meet one day while we're in the courthouse... I'm warning you, tread very fucking lightly, because what I'm going to do to you is going to be fucking disgusting. You understand me?"
But the government can get a new trial on the 10, yes?
He has a second trial already coming and apparently that one's a lot meatier than this one in terms of evidence. I think the gov can retry him but maybe it's not worth the time.

This is what MSNBC is saying. This may be enough for Mueller. Or they could retry him.
