I'm reading that from a federal sentencing perspective, it might not be worth the time to retry those counts. But who knows? Maybe they'll keep these 10 counts in their back pocket just in case Manafort's next trial goes badly for the prosecution.
Hooooooooooly crap. I'm almost looking forward to watching Sanders try to talk their way out of this. I mean, I'm sure she'll just give a dismissive "he's lying" and that's it- but shit. You can't run from this.

But the government can get a new trial on the 10, yes?
He has a second trial already coming and apparently that one's a lot meatier than this one in terms of evidence. I think the gov can retry him but maybe it's not worth the time.
Especially because a lot of the conduct on the mistrial counts might still be able to be considered at sentencing for purposes of determining his sentencing range if it is "relevant conduct" to the counts of conviction. The burden for the government on relevant conduct at sentencing is lower than it's burden for a conviction.
JHC. I'm having the kind of day at work where I microwaved lunch, and then, at 2:00 was like, "why am I so hungry?" at which point I remembered my lunch was still in the microwave, cold from sitting in there for an hour and a half.
And now allllll of this! I want to sit on twitter for three hours and bask in this.
(I'm sorry for the long Twitter link but my URLs always seem to break when I adjust it, so ...)
Also ... it looks like his plea said he did this on direction of "a candidate," not Trump specifically, right? So is Trump now going to argue that it was actually on behalf Hillary Clinton or something?
I'm also sick thinking that Trump is likely just going to glom onto the Mollie Tibbetts/immigrant story as a distraction/dog whistle except screaming racism into a megaphone in his little rally tonight.

Finally shit is happening. This feels good.
I have the same day going on. It's 2pm and I haven't had lunch. My phone blew up with texts all at the same time about Cohen, then my internet crashed when I went to turn on the Roku to watch the news. I feel like there is SO MUCH going on!
Off to Twitterverse. Screw the 100 emails I need to get to today..
I've long thought that Trump may not go down for anything himself, nor will he be impeached. But everyone around him will eventually be flipped or fall and Mueller will find a way to take down his (money laundering) businesses. Trump will be left in ruins. I think that is a very real possibility.

@@@@ I spent all day volunteering in my son's first day of Kindergarten class because his teacher has no team teacher and she desperately needed help. I walked out to dozens of news alerts and HOLY SHIT.
