I don't think we got any strange multiples. We did get some weird-ass dish towels from my H's aunt. They were holiday themed, but not Christmas or Thanksgiving. They were like Valentine's Day and July 4th themed. And they were not absorbent. They just pushed the water around.

No duplicates but I got a coffee pot I wanted to exchange for a better one and when I googled it it was sold ten years earlier at Ace Hardware. No where else.

We got this weird metal two piece art object with our em wedding date and initials in it from my friend. We got married 10/17/15 so the one piece was a the 1s stacked vertically and the other piece was he 0, 7 and 5 with our initials in the 0. It took us forever to figure out what it was. It’s hanging in our basement. I doubt we’d rehang it if we moved.
I got 2 crockpots, and I know one of the givers was upset about the duplicate, but they were different sizes and I still use both regularly. (15 years later!)
We actually didn't get any weird gifts that I can recall.
No one in our circles gives an object as a gift for a wedding-- cash is standard. Household items are for the shower. I didn't get anything I didn't like. I'm not all that picky about decor, though. Oh! I did get a brass lamp-- I liked the shape but not the color so I just spray painted it. We used it up until last year.
We received 3 blenders and 3 sets of dry measuring cups. One of the blenders broke and we ended up giving one to another close family member about a year after the wedding since it was still in the box.
A HUGE painting with a big ugly gold gaudy picture frame. it was probably 5x3. This was at our wedding in Italy, I do not know how they thought we'd get it back to the states.
It stayed at MIL's house....no idea what ever happened to it
At one of my showers I was gifted the following from 3 family members who all chipped in: a frying pan and a window box fan. Sounds average, you would think. But both had a dollar store sticker on them. Again, whatever.
I used the frying pan that night and it caught on fire.
Incidentally the fan is one of our most used wedding gifts, we still use it 9 years later.
I got all cash. Thank the universe I didn’t have to deal with random crap.
we did not nearly get enough cash. My mom's group of friends (my "aunties") who made up a large portion of the guest list do not believe in giving cash OR giving from a registry. I have no memory of what we did get, but it was not cash, lol.
Really odd art from my MIL’s friend. They are all artists. This was an actual tracing of a shoe on newspaper and professionally framed.
Most people gave cash which was nice because we didn’t have a wedding and we expected nothing. My ILs threw us a party a couple of months later for their friends/family and surprisingly people wanted to give us stuff.

Luckily cash is the norm for my culture. Our apartment was small and we knew we’d be moving abroad so did not want any physical gifts.

Not a duplicate, but H's cousin asked us if we wanted a crock pot. We said no thank you. Guess what they gave us? I was mostly confused as to why she asked if she had already decided that's what we should get.

My H and I eloped and only received gifts from our parents.
My XH and I got several sushi rolling kits that we didn’t register for. We never used any of them.
The best was the Christmas gift we got from my sister that year: she took one of our wedding pictures and sent it to some company that superimposes your bodies on a ~festive~ backdrop. The picture she gave them was only of our upper bodies and she chose a waterfall / bridge scene that required a whole-body image so the company just photoshopped our heads / torsos onto other bodies. The entire bottom of my dress was different and my XH’s hands were WAY bigger than his actual hands.
I cannot express the amount of “oh god you shouldn’t have!” that came out of my mouth when we opened it.

None, because everyone does it right here and gives cash. Thank you, NNJ Italians!
Showers were all registry items and giftcards.
However, H's family is from the Midwest and while most of them gave cash so as not to travel with gifts, we did get a giant painting of the Last Supper.
We got a few religious themed items, which was kind of weird but old people are old people, I guess. The most memorable was that my dad’s cousin couldn’t come to the wedding, but sent us a Bible with a very personal inscription in it. Which, whatever. I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it, so we ended up keeping it and when we moved 5years after our wedding, I went to pack it and $100 fell out of it.

We got four or five sets of pint glasses (mostly not what we registered for), with about 8-10 glasses in each set. We're big beer drinkers, but don't need that much. We kept our favorite two sets, and exchanged the others at Macy's for items still on our registry.
A metal squiggly blob shaped plant stand (?), though it may have been an awkwardly tall serving stand?? Also, the card got disconnected from it so while I could narrow down the giver by the store that they bought it from I never knew who gave it!
