Anyone been? I want to plan a trip over Thanksgiving for H and me. Tell me your experiences about where to stay, and what to do. I've never been skiing or snowboarding, and H was too young to remember much about it. I'm thinking about renting snowmobiles.
We went up a few years ago. The parents of some friends have a time share but were out of the country at that time, so the friends invited us up with them. I don't like downhill so we did the cross country, the route is really nice and I remember having my first hot buttered rum at a little cafe there in the village.
weve gone the last two years and LOVE IT, its such a romantic and fun place to visit. Whistler Village is a great walking town with plenty of hotels to stay at. We have stayed at the Delta Whistler Village Suites and the Fairmont Chateau. I checked out the hilton and would probably stay they next time. I would definitely recommend it, even if you are not a big skiier.

We love Whistler and go up a few times to ski each year. We're planning to go up for Thanksgiving too! We usually stay in Village North because there are bigger units for the 4 of us and our two dogs, but with just you and your DH I'd stay in the village. We stayed at the Pan Pacific for a wedding and loved it.
Of course there is phenomenal skiing but you can also go cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snow mobiling, zip trek, tubing, etc. If there isn't snow you can go hiking or explore the trails around Lost Lake, go shopping, just take the gondola up for the views, etc. And this year is leaning towards an El Niño year so snow may be iffy. Unfortunately since we already bought our season passes!
we go to whistler maybe once a year or twice every 3 years ish. sometimes in the summer for the other activities (ziplining, mountain biking)..h reeeeallllly likes it, i think it's okay. a little far to drive, but overall not too bad. if you go thanksgiving, know that it will be PACKED and the snow may not be ready yet. they usually rush to open by thanksgiving regardless of snow conditons bc they know it's a huge holiday in the US and they want to bank on that. i prefer going in jan/feb-ish, when there's a lot more snow.

I've been to Whistler once, back in my freshman year of college. I went for College Invasion on MLK weekend. I would not recommend going to Whistler on MLK weekend, unless you like being around A LOT of drunken undergrad debauchery
Victoria is absolutely beautiful and not that expensive. You can get really great deals on transportation and hotel from the clipper. H & I go at least once a year.

I love Whistler. We lived there years ago. Holidays that are both US and Canadian are the busiest weekends, particularly in July/August and when the snow is good.
So, US Thanksgiving isn't the busiest time of year.
We lived there in the summer season back when we were young and fun and so we didn't ski at all and still loved it. You can park the car at your hotel and just wander the village. It's beautiful and fun in the evenings.
Black's Pub is a great place for apres ski/happy hour because it's upstairs and overlooks the mountains so it's at a busy area of town and it's always fun, but you're a littler removed and can just relax and people watch.
I also love Victoria and we keep meaning to do a Clippervacations.com weekend.

Whistler was AWESOME! We stayed there with DH's family in a condo (Montebello, I think), so there were 7 adults. Fantastic time. Highly recommend going. Easily drive-able from Seattle too.
i don't like crowds, and i didn't like the crowd i had at thanksgiving..so i guess it depends on what you can put up with! i've also gone presidents week, and yeah, that's worse, even though it's also a US only holiday. don't think i've been to a both-holiday one before.
