My sister had a little boy about a week and a half ago. He ended up in the hospital today because his heart rate was way to fast and he was barely breathing. They admitted him and checked him over in the local hospital and then flew him to the children's hospital after they figured out that he has some sort of heart defect. For the rest we don't know what is really going on I feel so bad for them
Just got an update from my mom, they need to meet with the surgeons tomorrow morning to discuss the next step.
apparently as the hole in his heart is closing there is a muscle that is by/around the aorta that is squeezing it so that he isn't getting enough oxygen. When they were discharged after he was born my BIL had asked the nurse if his heart rate/breathing wasn't to fast. So she had checked it all again but it feel in to the average range so they went home. My parents where there visiting this weekend and my Mom had kinda mentioned in passing that she though it breathing was faster than usual but my sister said that that was just the way it had been and after what happened when they were discharged from the hospital they just thought it was normal. Turns out it wasn't. This morning the mid-wife came to do a check up and she checked him and said that his breathing and heart rate was way to fast so they made an appointment with the pediatrician. Before they even left home things got crazy. My sister was nursing him, when all the sudden he turned white, and then really limp and he wasn't breathing normal. My BIL ended up calling the ambulance and the ambulance took him to the hospital. They did some tests there and figured out that it was an issue with the heart and then sent him on to the Vancouver Children's by helicopter. So freaky!
Right now they have him in the ICU, and gave him a muscle relaxant to relax the muscles so he should be okay until they decide what to do. Still a huge concern!
Thanks everyone! I feel like I wrote a chapter....
