I’m listening to Dirty John for the first time and I find Debbie’s daughter Jacqueline so annoying. Her voice sounds like every mean girl I’ve ever known.
HOLY HELL. I just binged the first 4 episodes of Dr. Death. I gasped so many times...I still have chills. Fuck Baylor Plano and every other hospital that could have stopped him but didn't.

I've been listening all week during my commutes and just finished ep 4 this morning. Totally agree...I can't believe they didn't report him because of the possibility of a lawsuit. They KNEW he would operate again and mess up more patients. It's disgusting that no one did anything. Thank goodness for that Dr. that followed up on him and finally reported it to the DA. I hope it has a good conclusion. I'm keeping myself from googling so I don't spoil it.
I just finished up ep. 4 as well and my eyes just kept getting bigger and bigger as the story went on. What a complete and utter sociopath. And yes, every person and hospital and component of the system that failed to report/follow up appropriately should be held liable right along with him. Just unreal.

I forgot about this until the thread got bumped, I'm on episode 3 and I feel like I'm going to be sick. This is terrifying.
And also WTF to him dodging drug tests. If my company selects you for a random drug test you have to do it within like 36 hours or something and our jobs are nowhere near brain surgery around here.
I cant believe how this shit is going on behind the scenes and everyone just covers and avoids.

After listening to the fourth episode, I’ve become completely terrified of what kinds of things hospitals could be covering up behind closed doors. But also, I’m really curious to know if there were operative notes from his procedures, and if so, what did they say? “Bundle of nerve fibers amputated between L4 and L5, rogue screw inserted into left deltoid muscle, sponge in lower lobe of lung, patient tolerated procedure well.” And then “Addendum: patient deceased 20 minutes following procedure.”
I mean, obviously not, so was he falsifying documents? Did any of the other staff chart during the surgeries? What about the ICU nurses? Were those notes just removed from the records? Did he have ANY positive outcomes? It’s like he had never even seen a spine before.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

My dad needed a liver transplant. He was having a procedure done and his liver failed and he was in ICU for a couple weeks after that. It was touch and go but he got a liver fairly quickly. Liver failure in late March, transplant 7 months later.
My mom has said she wonders if the doctor doing the procedure did something wrong and thats how he got a donor liver so quickly and this is starting to make me wonder if she's right.

This, but I also couldn't believe that none of the others in the room physically intervened. Especially the doctors, who are peers at his "level" so to speak.

I have a playdate tomorrow and one mom is a physicians assistant and one is an OBGYN and I feel like I'm going to annoy them with 20 questions about medical lawsuits.
I binged 3 episodes last night and got through most of episode 4 on my way to work this morning. Holy hell! I just can't believe that this went on for as long as it did. It's just absolutely terrifying that the fear of a lawsuit kept these hospitals from reporting this guy to the medical board.
Dr. Death is my favorite new podcast. OMG, I seriously almost passed out listening to the discription of the first surgery. I feel so bad for his patients and am so angry at those hospitals/his university who just let it go on.
Is Dr. Death also on Stitcher? I listened to the teaser yester, but couldn’t find the full elisode(s).
Up and Vanished is my new podcast. I just started it today, but it’s good.
How are you liking Up and Vanished? I thought season 1 was fascinating and now I'm caught up on season 2. I can't believe there will be any resolution in season 2. Sounds like she went missing with those rainbow kids, who have no addresses/licenses/records.
I think Generation Why is my favorite. I love those guys.
I love it, but the one thing that irks me is when they use "will," as in "he will go into the house, and he will find his wife dead on the floor" and "investigators will obtain a warrant and will search his car, where they will find the murder weapon under the seat." It happened in the past, Aaron. Use the past tense!

I've listened to every single one of Gen Why's podcasts and am just now realizing that they do this! It's now going to annoy the hell out of me. Thanks Eagles!!!!

I'M SORRY EB.
They are good though!
I will now forever think of you when an improper tense is used by Justin and/or Aaron!!! :-)
I finished Dirty John. I found the conclusion really weird. I was not expecting “and the zombie prepper killed him” at the end. Actually, I had no idea what to expect about the ending of this podcast. Usually when I listen to a true crime podcast, I sort of know where we’re headed with the story (even if there’s a twist or whatever). I had absolutely no idea where this story was leading. He is obviously human garbage and I’m glad he cannot hurt anyone else. I never changed my opinion of Jacqueline – I find her very irritating.
