Trump lands in PA today to give a speech in a location where he probably will be received with less boos than in NYC or DC. I can't get over his stupid gesture/face, was he so excited to get off the plane/helicopter? Did they allow him in the cockpit to play with the controls?

I saw Trevor Noah's review of Bob Woodward's book and it made me want to read it. It's not at the library yet, but I did email a request for it after watching.
Speaking of books - what do you think of the Ken Starr book? I heard his interview on NPR yesterday. I mean, yeah, why not write a book about Clinton's perjury, and I guess we should respect him because he said he wouldn't have written it if Hillary would have won (sarcasm there). And I don't know if it was just a different time and I knew less about it or what, but he was making all sorts of false equivalencies and then trying to say that it was similar to now, but also trying not to directly criticize Trump for being a flat-out liar and dishonest.
For example, Janet Reno (AG at the time) did not support Starr's investigation outwardly, but also didn't try to stop it or hinder it or criticize it. He says that is similar to the Mueller investigation which isn't getting presidential support. But that's not quite the same b/c the Mueller investigation is not just "not getting support from the President", but the President is actively calling it a "witch hunt" and ridiculous and asking Sessions to stop it. That is very different IMO. Yes, it's not under oath (yet), but he is doing it overtly and intentionally to undermine it.
Ken Starr also said that the Clintons are just dishonest people, which it sounds like he has reason and research to believe that. But the Clinton perjury was about a specific case where Clinton lied about sexually assaulting/having sex when he was the one with all the power in the white house. Yes, Clinton did that under oath and it was wrong. But after he lied and was impeached, he directly apologized on national TV for lying to the Grand Jury. He was aware of his lie and (maybe an act), but he apologized b/c he realized it was wrong and deceitful. But is that equivalent to the continual changing of stories, flat out lies, and falsehoods that Trump supports and repeats in tweets, speeches, and especially his rallies? I understand that Trump hasn't testified or been under oath yet, but these aren't quite the same thing since he doesn't apologize or seem to have any idea that lying is wrong. Trump lies for his own means to an ends TO THE PUBLIC (and the world) constantly. The bar is set at a different spot now...
I don't know, for some reason I want to read Starr's book to understand the GOP perspective at the time, but I also think I'm super negative and would just hate-read.

Ken Starr who was fired as Baylor's president after covering up the sexual assaults there? It's rich that he's out peddling a book rehashing the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal.
Seriously?? This is what he tweeted today? Good lord. Between this and that picture up thread... how people can still claim that he cares about "the little people" is beyond me.
All he wants is cheers and adulation. The number of rallies he's had...?? WHY??

His supporters are so, so, so dumb and deluded.
First he did this...
President Donald Trump began the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by tweeting about the FBI, claims of possible collusion between his presidential campaign and Russia, and former Attorney General Eric Holder.
The tweets, apparently rehashing reports on Fox Business Network and Fox News, came as the president was traveling to a scheduled appearance at the Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania — the site where one of the planes hijacked on Sept. 11, 2001, crashed into a field.
First 9/11 Tweet:
We have found nothing to show collusion between President Trump & Russia, absolutely zero, but every day we get more documentation showing collusion between the FBI & DOJ, the Hillary campaign, foreign spies & Russians, incredible.” @saracarterdc @loudobbs
Second 9/11 Tweet:
New Strzok-Page texts reveal “Media Leak Strategy.” @foxnews So terrible, and NOTHING is being done at DOJ or FBI - but the world is watching, and they get it completely.
Third 9/11 Tweet:
Rudy Giuliani did a GREAT job as Mayor of NYC during the period of September 11th. His leadership, bravery and skill must never be forgotten. Rudy is a TRUE WARRIOR!
Then he retweeted a couple people and landed on that tweet at the top with exclamation points about 17 years.
The next few days should be interesting. Between 9/11 and Florence, he’s going to be pissed he’s not getting headlines, AND will be expected to again act like he gives a shit about millions of people. We all know about the pathological narcissism, but it’s still amazing to see how completely devoid he is about caring about anything other than himself.

I got on the wait list at the library last week for the Woodward book. It says I was #45, but this morning I got the notification that it was ready for download. Yay!

I don’t consider this a particularly trustworthy source, so do you think there is truth in this? Trump withholding state of emergency status for Virginia because they vote blue, unlike the Carolinas. It does seem like the type of petty shit he would do.

This brought me hope: I was 51st yesterday, ran to check- I’m now 50... 😌 I don’t know if I’ll be able to hold out, but I am in a bright red state, so that is a tiny bit encouraging?

In theory this would be similar to say TX vs. PR but I wouldn't say we know for sure what is going on behind this. I would guess that some of this is about who is receiving the requests. In the end if Virginia is hit hard I'm relatively certain the political pressure to assist would be far greater than for PR.

I may need to stay out of this thread today. Fuck head in chief's fuckery is too much on most days...today I am having physical reactions to what I am reading. One boxing session was not enough.

He keeps repeating stuff like this from fox. What in hell are they talking about?
They are talking about the tragic abuse of Carter Page. As Maddow pointed out again last night, someone who was already caught up in a separate Russian spy ring as an attempted recruit is probably not the best poster child for the unfairness of an investigation into Russian intervention in the election. But logic is not exactly strong over on Fox.

As of right now the only state on the FEMA website with an assigned disaster number is NC but they only update their website every 24 hrs. www.fema.gov/disaster/3401
I am hesitant to accept anything from Share Blue. :/

I can believe it. The parts of the state that will be hard are Republican so good luck with that decision asshole.
I think the state of emergency will come through but he’s definitely letting it ride for a while just to be a dick. Virginia as a whole won’t be hit as hard as SC or NC.

And if the Woodward book does well enough that will be headline #3. Maybe cumulatively enough to finally cause him to stroke out?
I bought the Bob Woodward book (via kindle) which released today. I'm looking forward to being properly horrified by it.
I preordered it from Amazon so I'm hoping it arrives today. My pile of books about this presidency just keeps growing and its kind of insane.
ETA Amazon says its not shipped yet. Boo. Amazon also says that I preordered two copies of it. Um, oops. I'm afraid to cancel one order though in case that's a mistake.
