Have you seen it? It seems the media still wants to focus on the Romney 47% tape and not look at/show Obama's old redistribution tape and hurt their candidate(and no, this is not the Joe the plumber incident)
Basically the two tapes show clearly the differences of the positions of the presidential candidates.
Romney is in favor of taxing the wealthy and using the money to fund that safety net for the poor, according to his own interviews. How is that not redistribution?

because when he says it it's pandering while when Obama says it, it's truth/awesome?

From Tef's second link:
The audio clip is 96 seconds long. Toward the end, Obama says “I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level to make sure everyone’s got a shot.” The audio cuts off right after the word “shot,” so it is unclear what is said next.
Additional audio from what appears to be Obama at the same event was posted by “Tim Thomas” on Aug. 7. That post utilized the same layout of text on a white background accompanying the audio. The subject of that clip is welfare reform legislation.
This quote?: "The Chicago Housing Authority has not been a model of good policy making, and neither necessarily has been the Chicago Public Schools. What that means then is that as we try to resuscitate this notion that we’re all in this thing together, leave nobody behind, we do have to be innovative in thinking what are the delivery systems that are effective and meet people where they live.
"And my suggestion, I guess, would be that the trick — and this is one of the few areas where I think there are technical issues that have to be dealt with as opposed to just political issues — I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution,†he said, “because I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level, to make sure everybody’s got a shot.â€
Here's another Obama said, "My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off if you’re gonna be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody." Though this was 08, I think.
Don't see anything in this quote from Obama that I disagree with.
Yes, October 19, 1998. Rommey has also supported the vision of "rising tides lift all boats" - He is for restructuring the tax code - 2 rates and limiting/eliminating deductions as income increases - so weathy actually pay more than they do now (fewer rich pay non) , but also more people on the bottom also pay taxes - fewer people people pay none.
Lol at the desperation. Romney insulted half the population and Latinos. He spoke inaccurately about the voting habits of the target he mocked. But look at OBAAAAAAMA'S video which does none of the above.
Two things...first as voodoo mentions, there is so many nuggets in the 70 minute tape. And his tone shows real disdain.
The other thing is that when we start pulling old clips, Romney has some great ones claiming to protect a woman's right to choose, supporting gay rights, etc. I'm not sure that the clip of Obama supporting redistribution is inaccurate, but he definitely uses different wording now. Romney has completely flip flopped. Or lied back then, which is possible.
I suppose any time one person gets tax benefits because someone else paid it, it's redistribution. Or the fact that NY pays more and MS gets more is redistribution. Republicans just pretend like they haven't voted for that stuff for decades because Obama proposes slightly more than does Romney.
Romney said he thinks half of Americans have no sense of personal responsibility whatsoever, simply because they are poor.

I have no faith in Romney revising the tax codes. He was just championing the tax havens that big businesses use around the world.
"Big business is doing fine in many places," Romney said during a campaign fundraiser Thursday. "They get the loans they need, they can deal with all the regulation. They know how to find ways to get through the tax code, save money by putting various things in the places where there are low tax havens around the world for their businesses."
Heck - even if I had a problem w/ Obama's video, it's from FOURTEEN years ago. It's possible for his views to change in that time. Romney's video was from the PRESENT. Here and now. That's what he believes in this moment.

While ignoring the fact that his father was greatly helped by the government in terms of welfare and a refugee fund set up by Congress.

I can't wait for this election to be over with. Clearly neither candidate is going to discuss anything of substance and we are just going to dissect philosophies because no details are being provided. Ugh

Nope. Once you are an adult, your views can never change (yes, I am being sarcastic, but that argument has arisen here in th past)

Amen. Romney won't do anything the the tax code. Obama won't either. They like to wax poetic, but they are both fools with no plan.

+1
The lack of substantive discourse is beyond maddening. I've actually reached a point where I am starting to ignore election news; I'm afraid my government and history professors are going to sneak into my house one night and take back my college diploma.

The worst part of the inaction, which I agree is likely to be the case, is that the tax code is probably the only area where we stand a shot at reform.

DING!
Dude, we've watched Obama's position on gay marriage evolve in what, 4, 5 years?
Heaven forbid his thoughts on welfare reform, economic policy or ANYTHING shift in 14 years.
Crap. I hope no one has any audio tape of me running my mouth 14 years ago. I guaran-damn-tee you there are huge differences in how I view the world today compared to how I viewed it then.
Romney's comments aren't exactly that far removed.

It is because it is hard and it is more fun to focus solely on these gaffes or stupid comments than on substance. Wth Romney refocusing on this quote from 1998, it does the same. As I say often, we are so screwed.

Are you suggesting Romney's comment was a gaffe? To me, a gaffe is accidentally stating we have 57 states or whatever, not a long passionate fundraising speech where he repeatedly denigrates almost half of Americans.
I have no problem with Obama's comments. And I think this is a pathetic attempt to distract from Romney's inadvertent disclosure of what he really believes.

Please don't forget that I want free shit because I'm voting for Obama. I bet it's because I'm black.
