I think it’s nuts too but I just don’t want to be that person who doesn’t tip. I did the first time (nurse) because I didn’t know. But it’s like $400 so 20% is a lot.
No. I love my dermatologist and her work but I never tip her or her nurse. I’ve given nice bottles of wine around the holidays. I’m pretty sure neither would accept a tip if someone tried to give them one.

I asked and the nurse said they appreciate the tips. THe whole Thing made me uncomfortable Which is why I am trying out a new place. I appreciate the clear conscious I will have not tipping after my next appointment.

I wonder what her licensing body would have to say about that. Good luck at the new place.

Is it a spa with doctors or a doctor's office? I'm honestly appalled regardless but I have seen "med spas" advertise botox.

If it was at a spa or aesthetician sort of place I might. Don't some beauty salons offer services from someone who has been trained to do this, but isn't necessarily a medical professional? I could be totally off base here (never looked into it) but I think a salon one of my friends used to work at offered these sorts of services. She didn't perform them, but I didn't think it was a doctor that did, either.
If it's a doctor or nurse doing it, definitely not. I would assume they have policies against that. Anywhere I have worked as a professional there are rules about accepting cash gifts and/or gifts over a certain amount.
I work in a Derm office with a med spa- botox is ALWAYS done by the MD or DO and never administered in our office by a nurse. The assistant is usually an esthetician or a nurse, but the physician is always the one injecting. No one in our office is allowed to accept tips, ever, for any service.

I’m going this week for the first time (eeek!! I’m excited and nervous) —it would never occur to me to tip a medical professional. I work in healthcare and this is against policy.

My doctor technically calls his practice a medspa but it’s still more of a medical practice than a spa. The spa part is that they serve you tea and play relaxing music and you can book a facial with the doctor’s husband.
But otherwise everyone who works there is a medical professional. I would never think to tip.
