I was underwhelmed, which is a bummer because I love me some apocalypse stories. It just wasn't that interesting. Plus it had shades of Lost, which makes me stabby.
Here's what I don't get - she had to find her uncle, which she did fairly easily, and yet his own son who is an evil mastermind can't find him? Out of everything that was unbelievable that really got me.
Yes! I want to know why the power went out, which of course is the hook. My H spent the entire show yelling at the TV for all the inconsistencies and falsehoods of a world without electricity. I finally threatened to turn the TV off if he didn't shaddup.

Yeah, we were going off about gaping plot holes like this, which is a big part of my disappointment.
Wouldn't the asthma medicine have evaporated by now? Or when the soldiers searched the house, why didn't they wonder what was behind the heavily locked door?
I can suspend *vast* chunks of reality to be able to watch shows, but this one was stretching it for me.
BUT as eclaires said, usually the pilot blows monkey chunks, so I'm hoping it gets better.

Same here... there was lots of snorting and sighing from the enginerd watching it with me.
I don't think so, copz. I've read Hunger Games and the only similarity I can see is that it's in the future and society/civilization as we know it has ended and there's one central (bad) authority (the general).

For the pilot, I thought it was pretty good. I was entertained, and when it ended I wanted to know more. BUT I really liked the Terra Nova pilot, and that went downhill fast. I really want Revolution to get better. It's filmed locally and is employing lots of people.
I haven't read THG but it gives me that vibe and I hate rip offs
Not really.
I sort of want to climb on my high horse about this, because THG is a blatant rip-off of several distopian novels.
Revolution reminds me rather strongly of a series that I'm blanking on the name, where a mysterious power pulse shuts down ALL generated power, and keeps it down even after the collapse. I never got past the first part of the second book because I got bored, so I don't know if they ever solved the problem.
I know its not meant to be gritty and realistic, but it always bugs the hell out of me when everyone on shows like this is so clean and sparkly. And wearing crisp pressed whites. Even if that would be possible, it feels like it wouldn't be possible. And yeah, gaping plot hole everywhere. I doubt we will watch another episode. It was okay, but...meh.

Yes to this as well. Clean clothes, nice teeth, good hair and makeup. It seems that everyone's appearance would actually improve if we were to lose electricity.
And ITA that Charlie was a terrible actress. Brutally awful, in fact.
I saw one preview with a dude who looked just like the twilight werewolf guy. he was standing majestically in front of a waterfall and I believe he was shirtless? I just about died laughing at the potential for sporadic soft porn in this series.
we thought it was *awful*. The acting, dialogue, "fight" scenes. Not to mention the inconsistencies. We will not be watching any more episodes, life is too short for shitty tv.
dh said it reminded him of shows like Xena Warrior Princess, with the bad acting and hilariously bad fight scenes.

Ok, apparently it was just me. I really think it has potential. H does too and he's super picky. Maybe it was because I was very underwhelmed by the Mob Doctor's premier. I think the pilot was choppy to get a lot of back story out of the way. I want to know how the bad guy became the bad guy...

I'm confused...I thought max or whatever the m name bad guy was just uncles former buddy from the army or whatever.
Charlie was able to find her uncle because her dad told her the hotel name. How he happened to be the first guy in that hotel, well that's just Hollywood you know...
