If you like dresses and don't want to spend a lot of $, check out Old Navy. They have some basic dress styles that are work appropriate that are reasonably priced.
Soma has some great dresses but the largest size they carry is XXL. They do run big in some styles so it doesn't hurt to check it out. I wear a 16/18 and fit into a L or XL in their dresses.
I have found a few nice dresses at dress barn. Also loft for pants. I think they carry an 18 online in the regular sizes and have added a plus line too.
Eloquii is currently running a 50% off sale. I find the quality there to be far superior to Loft and Old Navy, and at 50% off, the prices are pretty competitive with those brands.
I recently made my first Eloquii purchase and I am pleasantly surprised at their selection and quality. I bought everything on sale so I got great prices. I've also had good luck at Marshall's (at the store) and Lord and Taylor and Bloomingdale's (both online)

I buy almost all of my clothes from Kohl’s, JCPenney and a few things here and there at TJ Max/Marshals. I really like the Chaps dress pants from Kohl’s and the Dana Buchman tops for work. Yes, you have to order the tops online and return what you don’t want in store. I have a Kohl’s charge & I'm an “MVC” so I get free shipping & extra % off coupons at least 1x/month. I usually only shop when there’s a 30% off code and an extra $ off coupon.
JCP- I like Liz Claiborne and Worthington stuff. It’s getting harder to find either in store, so again, I order online and return what I don’t want. I have a JCP charge for the extra discounts and often receive $10 off $10 coupons, but also $10 off $25.
