when I was in bra-buying hell after nursing DD was done I was interested in these for multiple reasons. I never pulled the trigger tho. I wish I could try them on to see but I've only seen them in the packs.
They seem to be nice for if you anticipate your cup sizes changing due to pregnancies and nursings. Good sleep bra probably too.

I have two sets and wore them all of the time. I like them, they don't really show under clothes. My issue as of late is, it seems to ride a little bit and was giving me skin/eczema issues underneath my breasts and on the side. I'm a 36B just for reference.
I just bought my first underwire bra (besides a strapless) one in so long and think I will stick with those for awhile.
I bet they'd be comfortable for sleep, but they wouldn't be supportive or attractive on anyone who isn't a super-perky B cup. In other words, exactly the kind of person who doesn't need a bra to begin with.
