We had Oktoberfest thing yesterday. Normally our whole crew does a great job of having fun but not too much fun. None of us succeeded at that balance this year lol. Our group chat is funny this morning. I essentially slept from 4 pm to 6 am last night.
So needless to say I don’t plan on doing much today. ILs will bring the boys home and have lunch with us. I think we will get the Halloween decorations out. That is about it for me.
My aunt emailed my mom about my cousin and apparently on his way back from job training in TN with his wife he drank enough to send him into cardiac arrest when he arrived at my aunt’s house. Life saving measures were performed, they lost him a few times, but they got his heart is beating ok, blood pressure is ok, but they're monitoring his brain waves I guess to see if he’s had brain damage. They had a meeting scheduled with the doctors at 10am Eastern to go over those results, but I don’t know if it’s happened yet. I haven’t gotten any updated. I’m going crazy waiting.
Well fuck. My cousin (his sister) said “He has suffered a noxic brain injury due to lack of oxygen during a cardiac event. Over the next 24 hours they will be slowly taking him off the medicine that has him in a medical coma. And running more tests to look for any improvements. If there is no change we will most likely take him off of support tomorrow or the next.“
I feel terrible. He’s only 6 months younger than me. He was the closest thing I had to a sibling/brother growing up. After we all grew up, moved around and then his dad and then my grandmother died we saw their family less and less so we haven’t been as close. I reached out and we had started emailing after his initial hospitalization and I was so hopeful we could reconnect.
I went to OTF at 7, came home cooked breakfast then took a bath. I plan on doing very little today besides some laundry. DH is taking the kids to the Rockies game and my nephew is going to use my ticket. I pretty much hate baseball!
Yesterday was my kids 7th birthday and party so I’m still tired from all that. It was fun though!

My Sunday has consisted of an hour and a half of waiting for an oil change, a relaxing head massage/wash at my haircut which brought my blood pressure back to normal, and now lunch watching the football game at Olive Garden. Soup, salad, and breadsticks here I come!
Today is my day to sleep in and I just woke up. I stayed up until midnight finishing Beartown (oops on that early bedtime, cleo29 ).
We’ve got laundry and house cleaning and meal prep to do today, so nothing exciting happening around here.
I finished reading last Sunday! What did you think of it? I thought it was an excellent book (though the topic was rough with current events)
I had totally forgotten what it was about because I added it to my library hold list months ago, so I went into it not expecting what it was really about.
I agree with some others that the build up was a touch monotonous at times, but I like hockey and overall enjoyed the character development. From the rape scene on, it was just so very well done. That scene was gut wrenching for me, especially after this week, and I definitely cried at random points throughout. I thought it was a really well written, compelling read. I'm looking forward to reading Us Against You.
My yesterday was productive. I made a rum caramel sauce for crepes, did laundry and shopping, made chili for dinner and then caught up on the new season of American Horror Story. Oh and kicked my ass on pole and some TRX. Today I'm back to work, now that I switched to Sundays and we are CRAZY busy.
