We did our fall clothes shopping this past weekend (after all, it's getting way down to the mid 80's this week!). We live in the middle of nowhere, and so clothes shopping is a 45 minute drive. One of the stores forgot to take the dye pack off of DD's shirt. Is there any way for me to get it off without exploding it on myself? I don't want to spend 1.5 hours getting it taken care of...

Is it a chain retail store with online shopping? I wonder if you called the store and explained the situation, offered to email the receipt or something, if they could have another shipped and have you ship that one back? A lot of work on your part, I know. Or like a PP said, maybe a local store would help you out. I'm sure there are youtube how to's on removal but I'd be afraid to ruin it permanently.

This reminds me of a really annoying time I had that happen - I bought some new workout pants at Athleta. When I was next packing my gym bag to teach a class after work I had no clean workout pants that I liked, so I threw the new ones in there (sorry in advance to the phobes who won't wear new stuff without washing). As I changed at the gym I realized they'd left that tag on there, it was attached to the waist in the back, but I had no other options. I had to tell the story to my class before I got started because there it was for all to see, and laying on the floor for abs at the end was a bitch! Thankfully they were very nice when I brought them back in for removal.
Haha yes, there are a couple methods. I finally tried one that I found on youtube a couple weeks ago and it did work. It involves burning off an end of the plastic tag with a lighter, which sounds more complex than it really was. Just search for a youtube tutorial.

LOL--My sister moved to Baghdad after college and bought some new clothes before leaving. She got there and realized her pants still had the sensor on them. She had to mail them to my mom back in the states to take to the store and then mail them back. Haha.

Wow, I bet she was without those pants for a long time!!

Honestly, it depends on the kind of tag. Some (I'm thinking specifically of the round conical ones) can be removed with a powerful magnet, if you've got one handy. Others are fairly store-specific and can only be easily removed at that particular store.
