What is the weather like? Is it still really wintery? Can we get in stuff like easy hiking with the kids? Thinking of going for spring break which is the week of April 15th.
It could be beautiful and sunny or it could be snowy. Even if it is snowy, it shouldn't be too bad and you could hike lower elevations if you bring the right gear/clothing.
In my experience, late April tends to bring a snowstorm. Mid April can be nice. (I'm basing this on weddings without a backup plan. lol)
Definitely could be anything. Snow is possible until mid-April, but rarely accumulates much. You should be able to hike — check the weather forecast about a week out and pack the right clothing. Layers are your friend, and definitely sunblock (and chapstick with SPF).
Can be anything. Our house got like 16” in May a few years ago but then sometimes it’s in the 80’s. Higher elevation mountain hiking will be snow packed (Rocky mountain NP is snow packed through May for the most part) and I’d say most stuff 7500+ feet will have mud or snow.
Exactly. One year we got a foot of snow overnight, then the next day was so warm it all melted and flooded my basement. You should be able to hit some lower elevation hikes, though. Roxbury Park, golden gate state park, castlewood canyon, lookout mountain... you can even just climb the mesa outside of golden and get a lovely view of the city. It really just depends.

Hiking is usually still snow packed. There are a few hikes in the Denver metro that are clear, but it’s pretty common to find snow on trails into June/July.
Denver could be perfect and 85 or it could be snow. Two years ago we got snow in June.
I went last year at that time because we were taking part in a job fair. Day I got there was sunny and 70's. Woke up the next morning to and 20's and snowy, my co worker was excited since she's from Florida. The next day her and I took off for site seeing and it was icy in the morning and by noon was up in the 70's. The day we left was rain and 40. It really is all over the place.
