Just so you are aware, it is not really close to downtown DC, I think the name is a bit deceiving. anyway, Rosa Mexicana is really good, I have also heard great things about Succotash. Old Town has a lot of nice options. Any particular type of food you like or do not like?

I am travelling from Texas and staying in National Harbor, so I would really like to try something unique to the region or unique in general.

Hmmm. I had dinner at the Voltaggio Brothers (there were on Top Chef and are Maryland natives), but it is fairly pricey. They are located at the MGM casino near the NH.

Ditto to taking the ferry to Alexandria. So many cute shops and places to eat. That being said, Succotash has a delicious brunch and Rosa Mexicano is amazing too.
