We moved into our new build home in December. I’ve finally started getting rid of the builder grey, but I’m stumped on my bedroom. I’ve thought about wallpapering or stenciling some sort of navy behind the bed? I don’t want to do the whole room in Navy (SW Naval is the navy in the connecting bath) but aren’t accent walls over? What would you do?
ETa: Photos?
nope. Got it. My bedroom is a disaster, please excuse. One of the room at large (not pictured, long dresser on wall opposite bed) and one that includes the start of the tray ceiling.

Argh. Stupid keyboard won’t disappear so I can add pics!
I’m not up on trends, so take this with a grain of salt. It’s your bedroom that barely anyone else will ever see. If there’s one place that you can do anything you want without a single worry about trends, it’s here! If you like accent walls, do an accent wall. Either they’re still acceptable or many of my friends haven’t gotten the memo. If you go with an accent wall, I would probably choose a few shades darker than the gray that’s already in there.
By the way, I’m happy to finally see a messy room when someone says excuse the mess! Many times, people say that, and there’s like...one thing out of place. This is more my speed of “mess!”
Hmmm. I kind of like the pale gray in there. I think I would leave it, but I would get a different headboard (that gray doesn't look right with the wall to me, at least in pictures). A new bedding set would also work wonders--maybe a plain-ish navy with some cool accent pillows that have some sparkle to them.
I like the idea of a beautiful wall covering and you could do something bold and graphic, like a large floral pattern, or something subtle like navy with silver or gold stenciling. You can move the photos to the side wall if they don’t work with whatever you choose. Just pick something you love.
Anthropology has some beautiful examples. None of these were exactly what I had in mind, but the critical thing will be for you to find something that coordinates with the existing gray on the side walls.
I agree with ellipses84 something bold could be really fun. I love this textile designer--she's local to me and i'm obsessed with her prints: www.mirajeandesigns.com
I don't know if accent walls are out. I've seen plenty on the Flip shows on HGTV. And frankly, I have some in my house. My office has a purple wall on either end, one wall is stenciled. I love, love, love it. And our guest bedroom has a wood accent wall.
Our master is navy. I love it. The headboard is white fabric. It really pops. The rest of our furniture is black and it also pops.

I just painted our master and did an accent wall behind the headboard. I did SW Serious Gray, it's a pretty dark gray with blue undertones. The rest of the room is SW Morning Fog.
I love the idea of a bold pattern wallpaper though.
Right now though I agree with nicolewi, the undertones of your headboard don't match the walls (though it could be my computer screen) so everything just looks a bit off.
I think the navy as an accent wall behind the bed would look nice (and your headboard would pop more against navy that it's doing against the grey); it would work nicely with the curtains as well.
I think if you keep the pictures I'd try them maybe...lower. I think with the white backgrounds they'll look nice on a navy wall. I feel like I'd like to see something larger and lower that more of the headboard, though.
Re trends: I personally don't care about trends, and do what I like. We have an accent wall in our bedroom; it's a dark grey/blue with a lighter version of the same colour on the other walls. Our fireplace wall in the living room is also done in an accent colour, and I like that too.

I'm not sure which rooms you wanted pictures of. So here is what I have on my phone:
Guest Bedroom with Wood wall:
My office with stenciled wall:
Stenciled wall in my office:
This is not my house, it's a model home. I was looking for pictures of my bedroom and found this. I will keep looking for pictures of my room with the whiteheadboard.

All the pictures always. I LOVE your office wall. I think I'm leaning towards wallpapering the wall if I can find something I like and can afford.
Yes, Ramz-ee , that stencil wall is absolutely gorgeous! Did you do it yourself? What kind of paint? Tell us more!
I did do it myself!!! I used a stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils. They have large wall ones.
I used BM aura matte paint on the wall. Then used a semi-gloss in the same color for the stencil but added a little bit of generic white (probably ceiling paint) to the semi gloss just to lighten it a tad so the stencil was a little more noticeable. And then I stenciled. I bought a leveling kit from Cutting Edge stencils to start off because the stencil was huge.
It maybe took two hours. Now that I look back it seems like a daunting task, but it went pretty quick.
I just love it. If you think it looks nice in pictures, I can tell you it looks ten times nicer in person. This is the one room I was able to do exactly what I wanted in. I didn't have to take H's taste in to consideration and I just went for it. I primarily work from home and seeing the wall everyday helps me get through it!

That will work, too. Every wall in my first house was covered in hideous wallpaper and I swore I would never use wallpaper. But if I didn't pledge that to myself, I would have considered it for this space. However, I like the stenciling because I was able to do the exact color I wanted.

I'm open to a stencil too. I guess I should have said I'm leaning towards a pattern on the wall behind the bed rather than just saying wallpaper. Where does one even look for stencils?

I got mine from Cutting Edge Stencils. They have quite the variety. I recommend you look at their wall sized stencils. They are much larger than a normal one that would be used for furniture.
ETA: I just checked out all the wall stencils Cutting Edge Stencils have. There are SO many options now. When I did my wall 4 years ago, there were maybe 10-15. You could have a party with all those stencils.

That's amazing! I thought it was metallic paint. It's beautiful!
