I'm voting for Jealous, but I feel like a bad CEPer because I've kind of zoned out on the governor race. I knew I was going to vote for the Dem regardless, so Jealous it is. Right now I'm in full on "we need democrats everywhere" that I just haven't looked into him more.
My understanding from my Baltimore friends is that they feel like Jealous is paying attention to the city of Baltimore in a way that Hogan is not, has not and probably will not.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I’m not excited about him at all (my mom is though! She hugged him at the state fair?!!) but of course I am voting for him. I’m very upset the Sun endorsed Hogan who I hate with the fire of a thousand suns.

Hogan never will. He literally left us off that transportation plan map! I truly think he end goal is to connect Baltimore and DC to make it a cheap place for commuters to live (and basically just sleep and head back to DC) and continue ignore all who live there now.

Yeah, my lack of focus here became apparent last night when I was unable to give my husband a good reason to support Jealous beyond the (adequate for me at this time) GOP BAD. DEM BETTER!

There was a Hogan ad on the other day talking about how he brought the city back together after the riots. I scared my dog by screaming at the TV.

This is how I feel about every race too. I feel lazy but it hasn't seemed all that necessary to do research when I know how I'm going to end up voting, anyway. I don't really talk to very many local people anyway so it's not like I'm going to be selling candidates to anyone else either
I'm voting on Sunday and will be voting for Jealous. And all the other dems.
I have friends who live in the city who LOVE Hogan but I cant figure out why.
I sometimes feel like Hogan has just done a really good job of convincing everyone that he is this amazing governor, but few people I know can point to "real" things he has done that they like besides lowering the bay bridge tolls.

Well, I don’t think he is going to leave Baltimore City in the dust is a good start. He wants to eliminate the gender pay gap, is concerned with woman’s health, Obama endorses him, wants universal preK, has a prescription affordability plan, halting mass incarceration.

He likes his dog? I have no idea. It is truly a puzzle.
Are these white people? Do they have kids in school? Venture outside of Hampden/Canton?
ETA: I’m just puzzled how anyone who lives here and is connected to the city in a meaningful way could like Hogan, he has literally done nothing for the city and in severals instances made things worse.

I’m not like over the moon, and his Bernie connection will always annoy me, but I got a little more motivated for Jealous after seeing a clip of him responding to Hogan at one of the debates. I guess hogan was making the argument that Jealous wasn’t really tied to Maryland and Jealous really came back with a compelling reply about how his parents couldn’t marry legally in Maryland years back and other connections he had to Baltimore and the state.
Overall, I’m voting dem down the line whether I’m excited about it or not.
Oohhh...so I'm digging deeper into his website (which I should have just done in the first place) and there's some good ammo here that speaks to MHs leanings.

I'm gonna make this happen dammit.
Is there anything about bikes?
I am not sure if J actually likes Hogan, or if he just likes antagonizing me.
I'm rather torn on this one, because Hogan has been very supportive of the FD when past Governors have not. H has met him, had actual conversations with him, etc. H almost had to get Hogan and his office involved in a workplace dispute. I'm 90% I'll still vote for Jealous, but there's that 10% that is leaning to Hogan.

Mine it's both. Def both.
I swear he brought up Bernie last night just to see steam come out of my ears. Totally derailed my actual point.

White, kids go to city schools, etc. Like I said I cant figure out why.
Jealous has put a major chip on my shoulder by not visiting my county once since the primary, but like bex, I'm voting blue up and down the ballot.
One thing to worry about with Hogan- he's very close to Chris Christie and PENCE. He has said those were the two governors he was closest to. And I think he's taken a lot of moderate stands on things so he could appear bipartisan, but will lean much more to the right in his second term. He will be filling five of seven vacancies on the Court of Appeals. That could have huge consequences, and how comfortable do you feel having Hogan make those appointments?
We are lagging behind our neighboring states in job and wage growth. Our school system has fallen from first in the country to sixth. We need to implement recommendations from the Kirwan commission, and those recommendations need to be funded. We need better public transportation, not wider roads, which keep more cars on the roads.

He also took credit for providing paid sick leave, which he VETOED and was then overridden by the Senate.
And he's saying he repealed the rain tax, which he did not do, he just changed it so that instead of the offenders paying the tax, it's now divided among everyone. So yeah, way to go.

Your second paragraph is the heart of the reason I was planning to vote for Jealous. As a vote against Hogan. I was looking for reasons why jealous is a good choice in his own right, not as an alternative to the GOP.
I'm def getting there though. His website is detailed AF.

I'm still mad him for calling the fucking thing the rain tax in the first place.

That’s bizarre! A friend said she saw some Hogan signs in Hampden which doesn’t surprise me at all but besides that I feel like the city has been carpeted in Jealous signs.
As a teacher, Hogan earned my eternal hatred for what he did to the school year. There is no good reason why districts should have to pick and choose between Jewish and Muslim holidays to take off from school given the demographics in places like Montgomery County, and ZERO pedagogical reason why kids should start school after Labor Day. Hell, here in Georgia we start in early August. Guess what our kids get? An extra MONTH to prep for SAT, ACT, and AP exams that students in Maryland are missing just to go to the damn beach.
