I dim the lights to about half, enough to see, but low enough to either (a) relax and not wake me up if I'm showering in the evening or (b) not blind me b/c I just woke up.
DH showers with the lights dimmed all the way down. I guess its enough to see, but not blind him in the wee hours. He gets up around 4:30 or 5, so even if there was a window, the availability of nature light is slim to none.
This is another one of those things I've never heard of before TN/GBCN.
Fascinating. Never ever thought of doing this. But I'm not sure I would like it very much. I usually shower at night so it would mean showering in the pitch black.
Growing up, my bathroom got a ton of natural light during the day so as long as it was light out, I wouldn't turn lights on. During the day you usually couldn't tell if the light was on or not anyway because it was bright enough in there.
This! All of our rooms are actually like this so the overhead lights usually don't come on until 7pm at the earliest. Our living room light hardly ever gets turned on since the tv is so bright.

SoCal, during the summer, still have daylight until 8-9pm sometimes.
And if the moon is full, it can really be bright still at night, depending on where\how the moon hits your house.
If you have a bathroom window to take in all of these natural light, this makes sense. So I don't see this as unusual at all.

My DH has always showered w/o the light on and now I do, too. We do have a window in our bathroom, but a lot of the year it's dark in the morning when I shower. We use a nightlight in our bathroom, so it's not pitch black - it's less jarring than having to turn on the light in the morning.
