An hour wait. PA 1. Huge turnout. I was about the 1100th voter at 10am; in the primary I was 77 at lunchtime. I saw a number of young people home from college and some moms with young kids.
I voted 2 weeks ago but my husband is voting today, going to drive by our polling place in a bit to scope out the line for him.
The house and governor races both look to be close in Kansas, at this time of the day I feel optimistic.
we have no alcohol in the house right now (other than a big bottle of vodka....) so will need to remedy that today. I also have a huge mountain of laundry to fold tonight to keep me busy while I wait nervously.
I've seen a posts from several of my high school and college friends about how this is their first time voting. I congratulated them but really just really wanted to scream at them for not voting in 2016.

First time, like ever?
Please tell me you are really young. I've voted pretty consistently since I could at 18. I don't understand how people just ignore it? Don't care? Bizarro world.
Humidity is screwing with the voting machines in Raleigh. Seriously! If they can't be tabulated they get thrown into an emergency bin and then are tabulated later. But HUMIDITY!!!

I don't either. I just went and looked at my voting record to confirm, but I've voted in every single election - primaries, midterms, generals, etc. - since I turned 18.

I skipped the 2002 midterms because I was away at college and didn't request an absentee ballot. I didn't really vote in local elections until after law school, and I've missed a few primaries or locals since then. So not 100 percent. But I've definitely voted in every presidential election since 2000 and every midterm since 2006.

Every single Democratic candidate on my ballot was female today. Missouri is red, and my district is very red, but it was so inspiring to see so many women wanting to fight.
There was a line when I arrived this am, but it cleared out by the time I left. Steady stream of people though. Also our poll worker group was SUPER diverse in every possible way, including age, which was nice to see.
Of course none of our congressional seats are in play. (They're blue. Staying blue) Governor is our big one, and I don't have a ton of hope on that.
I'm more concerned with the exec races of the adjacent coubties because those have big repercussions for me professionally.
I can't decide if I want to watch the returns tonight or just wake up and get the news all at once.
I was number 416 at our tiny precinct at 8:15 am. That’s around the same number I was for statewide elections last year at 11:00 am. I happened to walk in with my neighbors and there was a decent line as we were leaving.
There were no GOP representatives handing out sample ballots on site. The district is considered uncompetitive so that’s probably why. Fine by me.
I have never seen my polling place so busy. It was great.
I was sad with how many local spots had no Dem Challenger. Mostly city board and judge spots.
My county had a referendum asking if the city should put out a statement telling the state they need to support the second amendment. Sadly that's become a big thing in parts of Il.
I just want to say that every morning when I leave for work I exchange pleasantries with the older gentleman next door, and this morning I said “Good morning” and he said “YOU BETTER BE VOTING TODAY. GET YOURSELF THERE.” And I confirmed that I was. Lol. It made my whole day.
Just got done voting in KS-03. I didn’t know what to expect since it’s my first election here but there was a steady stream of people, although no more than 5 in line at a time. A group of 18ish year old girls were walking out as I was walking in and it made me really happy to see that.

I sent in my ballot last week. Trying to find out from my friends how it’s going down in Miami. It is raining hard where I am now, so don’t know how that affects things.
When do we think we will know the status of the house?
I already texted this, but I'll share for the class.
I'm really going to be watching GA-6. Lucy McBath is running against incumbent Karen Handel. This is Tom Price's old seat, and it's long been held by Republicans. If Handel hangs on, it certainly doesn't mean hope is lost - CA could still give Ds the House in a squeaker even if Eastern time zone races don't. But if GA-6 goes D, I think that will be a signal of things to come.

NYT is saying likely not until after 11:00 pm eastern time. This is another one of those times that I'm super jealous of west coast people. And Hawaiians.
I just told myself the reason I skipped the gym this early AM was so I could stay up tonight. I mean that wasn’t going through my head at 4:45 am.... but now it seems like a totally justifiable reason to turn the alarm off. I am so smart lol.
There’s a lot of critical House races in CA, which they are predicting to be tight. CA has tons of absentee/vote by mail voters and we take forever to count. If the east coast races are neck and neck and not called until later tonight, then it’s possible we might not know until tomorrow.
Also I saw something about Mississippi’s Senate races. They’ve got two, because Wicker is retiring but McDaniels is up for re-election. I guess there’s a third party in one of those races and he’s getting a ton of support, and as a result, there could be a it a run off race next month. I would say we have no shot, but Doug Jones tells me that it’s not over until it’s over.
