There were a few that surprised the crap out of me. We have a runoff for Secretary of State in Louisiana with candidates from both of the large parties.
I'm extremely fascinated that my little bitty hometown smack in the middle of Louisiana just elected 2 Dem Alderman, 1 No Party, and 1 Independent town Aldermen.
My mom's city just elected their first black mayor in my lifetime.
I honestly feel that this may be how Dems can save the 2020 election. I am technically registered independent, but right now I feel like Dems are the only option to oust the orange one.

RI elections are boring but thankfully Raimondo beat Fung and my wife’s boss also kept his seat.
MA elections went pretty well, yes on 3 (to uphold transgender nondiscrimination protections passed.) It looks like we will pick up Republican seats in a couple state legislative races - Lyons in the state house (yesssss) and possibly also Ross in the state senate (fingers crossed, this one is really close.)

Quoting myself but my wife just called and Becca Rausch won!! Richard Ross is out!!!
Most of our initiatives went down, though at least we finally agreed that slavery is not a great thing.
I'm feeling torn over the new, supposedly less partisan process for redistricting. I mean I like it in principle, and voted for it, but now that it looks like Ds took control I want to gerrymander like there's no tomorrow.
I'm in WA and still waiting. I'm going to celebrate Maria Cantwell, stricter gun laws and mandatory increased police training (including the use of deadly force).
I'm also going to celebrate Carolyn Long, whose race hasn't been decided yet. She is now with 4% of the incumbent R who won by 23% last time in my R district. That's huge. I'm going to keep fighting to turn my district blue and I'm going to feel proud of the hard work being done by local Dems.

The Dem won both my state senate and state house race (I think, that one is very close). The state senate seat has never been held by a democrat before, ever, since the district was established in the 1950s. The state rep also flipped the seat.
I live in a very purple area. It's interesting to see the ways that people must have split their votes across parties. County-wide, we voted overwhelmingly to keep the incumbent Dem governor and us senator, but then also kept our incumbent Republican US House rep.

No local results have been posted aside from an unofficial one electing a new sheriff. I’m thrilled. There were many unopposed races that were decided in the primary, but I’m anxious to see the city council outcome. Lines in Vegas were done voting around 10, so I’m better off going to bed than waiting for statewide results tonight.

My representative was a foregone conclusion. I honestly don't know why I bothered voting in that election. He got 79% of the vote in the primary. These were the Primaries in Louisiana, the General Election won't be until December.
I was really hoping my Parish would defeat the Fantasy Sports Betting measure. It didn't.
The maga nazis in my district re-elected the douchebag who has been indicted on federal charges. Gotta love living in CA 50. Surrounded by a bunch of conservatives who are afraid of anyone who is darker than day-glo white.
It doesn’t appear that results are in on my district but my county went 59+% for the D challenger. R county clerk and county leaders lost (I think one of these losses was a disappointment bc she recently secured a huge federal and state grant for a necessary road widening/traffic alleviation measure near my house - the only R I voted for) DH’s work BFF from his old company won BOE 2 towns north of me, a guy I work with (R) lost his town committee (not surprising as the rural-ish area is filling in and growing D), and my friend whose H is (D) mayor of the town 2 towns away now has a fully D council!
I think IL went blue on every major race. Governor flipped, and the two major House races I was watching flipped. While both of the House races were toss-ups, Roskam was favored to retain his seat, so this was very exciting news.!

Virginia here. My district didn't flip but Vangie Williams closed the gap a bit. I canvassed for Wexton and she beat Comstock. I'm so happy about Spanberger and Luria.
Corey Stewart lost in like 2 seconds so that was nice.
Our NY-22 race is too close to call! WAH!!!! This race has gotten national attention because 45 loves Tenney. She is behind Democrat, Anthony Brindisi, by like 1500 votes, so now we wait for absentee ballots.
All local incumbents won. 2/3 are good Dems. The other one is a Trumper. Our town is very red so his win is not a surprise.
CT Governor still hasn’t been called though Lamont is back up with 91% in last I checked. Dems have control of the House and Senate, though, so even if Stefanowski pulled it off, I don’t think he’d be able to do much damage.
They called the race for Chris Murphy about 5 seconds after polls closed, which is not surprising, but normally when you look at the map of CT you see blue around the cities and then red everywhere else. This time most of the state was blue for him with just a belt of red in western CT.

I’m MOST excited about Kwame Raoul and Lauren Underwood! 🎉
Sigh, Iowa is hellbent on being the next Wisconsin.
3/4 US house are now D. But GOP remains in control of state govt. i am so so so disapointed. I really thought we would at least get gov and sos. So apparently everyone is loving the bloodbath we have been experiencing the past couple years.
GA posters, does anyone have a link for aggregate General Assembly results? I see on WABE that both my local House and Senate districts flipped, but I’m curious about the overall.
All blue which is what I would expect. I’m laughing a little that our incumbent Board of Ed candidates both won. Everyone keeps complaining about the schools. Have they considered new board members?

Neuqua Valley class of 2004 what what! Very excited for her!

I really hoped that after everything with Hurricane Florence, we could potentially get some of the pro public education candidates elected. Nope. Guys, all students finally returned to school on Monday. Like, 2 days ago. The schools still aren't even restored to where they were before the hurricane, many have entire wings closed. Our county commissioners suck, and were instrumental in keeping funding from the schools to repair (so kids could get back to school), so we made sure no Dems made it to council! I'm not surprised, just disheartened. Our kids deserve a functioning county. I had hoped we'd get at least one Dem on school board, but that didn't happen either. I will say that although our school board is all Republican, they have busted their asses for the kids the past two months- and really, if you want to win a local election here you must be Republican.
Another race I was watching was for our local house rep. I expected a bloodbath, but the incumbent won 59% to 41%. I know it's not a great margin, but it was a difference of 3000 votes, and most Dems don't even come that close. The Dem candidate is amazing, and of course I'm sad, but he ran a good race. The incumbent, instead of advocating in Raleigh for the schools to get money to hire contractors, buddied up with the insurance company, and didn't encourage insurance to pay so we could get the schools operable. He's a complete P.O.S.
PA-1. Senator and Governor stayed blue. But alas, the recently redrawn congressional district remained red- the campaign was expensive and ugly. The republican was sketchy as fuck claiming endorsements that were outright lies and the dem was caught on tape claiming "dogs are smarter than cops" which is a stupid thing to say out loud even if you believe it to be true. Down ballot stayed blue here, red a mile of so north of me.
Locally, I am ecstatic Kwame Raoul won for IL Attorney General. I am also not a huge JB Pritzker fan, but it does mean we get Juliana Stratton as Lt. Governor!! And I am hopeful she will become the next Governor.
Also, locally, one of the campaigns I worked for was a county-wide race and she won! She becomes the first black person to hold a county-wide office in my town!
