So long story short, after just over 2 years in our brand new home, our Delta shower valve has now failed 3 times. Over the summer the plumber recommended a house filter to help with what could be hard water, but obviously despite the $$ to do that, that did not fix it.
Last year it failed the night before we left for Disney. Like I woke up MOTN and it was dripping. Today it's 3 days until we leave on a week cruise and my parents are supposed to stay with our daughter in our house.
So now we're investigating how to fix this (since both our shower and our daughter tub) are both the same delta controls and what we can get Delta, the builder, and the plumber to fix. I mean, 2 adults showering once a day should not cause something to break 3x in 2 years.
The issue now is, I don't want another Delta product. We've used Moen in our last house and I know they're guaranteed for life. Our handheld is actually Grohe because Delta didn't make a handheld that matched and this was the closest.
I'm really just upset/mad/anxious because more than likely we're looking at a large whole behind the shower over the tub while they figure out what to do. There's no way to fix my daughter's tub without A-ripping out the whole tub/shower or B-ripping our her custom vanity.
I'm sorry. That sounds really frustrating. FWIW, Delta products are guaranteed for life too. They sent us a new showerhead after ours shit the bed within 2 years.
I hope they can fix your daughters tub without ripping things out. Our master bath tub is tiled in and when we had some plumbing issues I thought they'd have to tear it apart. Between cameras and a really good plumber they were able to fix the pipes by removing 2 tiles which we basically never glued back in completely and keep it now as an access panel. I couldn't believe it. Is there any way to add an access panel somewhere?
icedcoffee , the good? news is our shower and tub basically split a wall, so the shower controls back to the tub area. So if they have to cut, they can cut a hole in the wall above the tub and then just patch the drywall.
So where the glass is here, is a wall in our bathroom and the controls are on the interior wall.
DH called me and said the plumber called the builder who said they would handle everything. I'm guessing it's half because our builder is awesome and because DH grew up with his kids.
We're still not sure how it will work with our daughter's bathroom, but they are going to hopefully come out Friday and do a walk through with us.

Ugh, that's frustrating. I have to say, I was recently impressed with Delta's customer service, so I hope they can make this right with you. We haven't replaced the part they sent yet, though, so maybe my happiness is premature (the solenoid for our touch faucet, which was installed about 4 years ago). I'm just so used to people not standing by their products I was happy that they sent the part for free, no questions asked.

Honestly I have had no issues with Delta prior to this. My parents' house and our beach house all have delta shower controls, so for us to have this many failures with this particular product is disconcerting.
