Daniel Dale on Twitter: "Extended quote: "Well Matt Whitaker, I don't know Matt Whitaker. Matt Whitaker worked for Jeff Sessions. And he was always extremely highly thought of, and he still is. But I didn't know Matt Whitaker. He worked for Attorney General Sessions.""
This goes with my theory that MW was all a big distraction so when he nominates someone else just slightly less awful we will feel grateful. He has done this time and time again. Mark my word!
I just put this in the Sessions thread but maybe this thread makes more sense.
I am already dizzy with all the replacements being bantered around. It’s like we are back in 2016 and playing Appointment Apprentice. Not going to freak out or pay attention to the names being dropped until one is actually picked.

I can’t wait until the day when I wake up and one of my first thoughts isn’t how much I hate Trump.
@ddale8:
Trump to/on Black female reporters this week: - Alcindor: "Such a racist question...I know you have it written down." - Phillip: “What a stupid question...But I watch you a lot, you ask a lot of stupid questions." - Ryan: "Loser...She doesn't know what the hell she's doing."
The NYT reported back in September that Whitaker was spending a bunch of time in the Oval Office and 45 liked his "commanding presence" and "central casting" bearing. Nice try with the I-don't-know-him.

I was going to post that the Pod Save America guys said on their podcast he spent a lot of time in the Oval and that it was highly unusual someone in his position would’ve had reason to do that.
(Posted same story as mbcdefg) I know some don’t care for the WSJ, but I really appreciated the detailed breakdowns the writers, headed by Joe Pallazzolo, mastered here. The story also highlights (sometimes by picture👍) the obvious opposite-speak method consistently utilized by 45 & Co. throughout the Stephanie Clifford/ Karen McDougal scandals. *DOH! Rcvd a phone call in the middle of posting, thought about checking before clicking save to make sure, but obviously didn’t. Derp mbcdefg
During his time as Interior secretary, Zinke has arranged meetings with multiple billionaires and took 66 DAYS of personal leave.
Zinke’s personal conduct and management decisions have spurred at least 15 investigations, 9 of which have been closed.
His 66 days of personal leave between March 2017 and August 2018 exceeds the 39 annual days off federal senior executives would be given during that same period.
According to the NYT piece it's unconstitutional so why isn't someone suing? How the fuck can 45 just break the constitution and walk around like it's no big deal. The daily fucking rage with this admin. Our laws seem to be built on the basis that a potus wouldn't be a criminal. Just talking to myself here but why after the Saturday night massacre were laws not made to prevent this shit.
Trump’s dishonest, incoherent defense of naming Matt Whitaker acting attorney general www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/11/9/18079070/trump-matt-whitaker-jeff-sessions-mueller •Trump said, “I don’t know Matt Whitaker.” He does know him. •Trump made nonsensical points about Whitaker being Senate confirmed and not Mueller •Trump refused to answer whether he wanted Whitaker to rein in Robert Mueller (With the ((I believe)) previously mentioned hateful response given by #45 to CNN’s Abby Phillips: “What a stupid question that is. What a stupid question. I watch you a lot. You ask a lot of stupid questions,” he said.)

As I understand it, he is breaking the laws that were set up after the Saturday Night Massacre to prevent it from happening again.

I'm out of NYT articles for the month so I haven't read it. I guess the question is, who has standing to sue?

I am going off of what one of the authors said on TV last night and this morning. Basically said someone like a Senator can sue. Am sure there are more options than that. He basically said this guy is a hack and whatever he does is invalid. The garbage on TV has been about how he is 45's BFF - ok we know that. Cable should be focused on the constitutional piece but I know that isn't as exciting for them. It's only a document. SaveSaveSaveSave

Same issue we've had for the past 2 years: only Congress can really challenge him, and it's controlled by McConnell and Ryan, whose names will go down in history as two of the most abhorrent opponents of democracy in US history.
(Yes, I know the judicial is a co-equal branch, but not until something is brought to them.)
'Somebody needs to run': Flake floats GOP primary run against Trump www.politico.com/story/2018/11/09/flake-2020-trump-980914 “I’ve not ruled it out. I’ve not ruled it in. Just, somebody needs to run on the Republican side,” Flake said on Friday in a lengthy conversation with POLITICO and The Hill on Friday. _______ What a shock that Flake’s being a GD FLAKE! You’re welcome for the Fri afternoon head explosion. (Nah, on second thought: he’s not worth an explosion- more like a minute pop.)

Why is EVERYTHING he does fucking bizarre.
Oh, you mean because it was just raining? I just played an entire field hockey game in that weather (we have the same). What a fucking disrespectful asshole.

Listening to NPR yesterday, one of the authors of the NYT op-ed (not Conway) said that if Whittaker is AG, basically anyone can sue. He said he'd be above all the Federal prosecutors, so anyone with a case with them could sue on the basis that the prosecutors weren't valid due to the AG not being valid.
I'm sure I'm not saying it exactly right since I'm not an attorney and don't understand how it all works, but he made it seem like it could be a disaster.
Every other leader who is in France has managed to get out today. I saw a headline that Trudeau gave a speech in the rain and said something alluding to Trump skipping because of the weather.
So did we tax payers pay to send him to France to sit in a hotel room and watch TV and tweet?

Hell, even my dad, who is visiting, stood in pouring rain to watch me play hockey. As they would say in England, Trump needs to harden the fuck up buttercup.
