A puppy! Just kidding.
I have a 7th grader who is artsy and likes to bake. Honestly, what she wants is gift cards. She likes cool bags and backpacks. Fjallraven is what she ask for for Christmas. She has a backpack from here that she really likes. society6.com/baggage She, also, likes Woot t-shirts and Snog t-shirt. Fancy market sets are another favorite. They are pretty expensive for markers, but have different tips, and look more like watercolor. I got them at an Art Supply Store, not Micheal's, but I can't remember the name of them.
Jewelry making kits from arts/crafts stores. Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and even WalMart have some neat ones. You can get a starter kit pretty cheap and add additional charms, fabrics, and leathers. My girls are close to the same age and love them. Bonus- keeps them occupied for hours on their own and also something we can enjoy together

Do you have a local bakery that does decorating events? We have a local one that does all sorts of cookie decorating, holiday house (halloween, gingerbread, easter) decorating and cupcake decorating workshops.
Maybe a cute apron with some fun, kid-friendly baking accessories. Williams Sonoma and Sur La Table have some cute stuff.

this would be fun!
Thanks everyone! There have been some great ideas posted , but a lot of them (instamax camera, 3d pens) the girls already have.
Oh bummer! Well the other thing my DD wants badly is a Kids Fitbit Ace. I think they're $99 on Amazon right now. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to buy her one or not.

A few more ideas-
Check with your local zoo to see if they have a kids membership or if they offer kidcentric classes/workshops. My local zoo does a few art-related summer camp programs where the kids learn about animals and color in nature and draw/paint them. They also offer a few themed sleepovers at the zoo.
